Phil Neville to learn United fate

Phil Neville expects to discover if he has a part to play in Louis van Gaal's coaching team at Manchester United in the next few days.

- Scholes: Van Gaal will improve United by 25 percent

The former United full-back returned to Old Trafford last summer as first-team coach in his former Everton manager David Moyes' backroom staff.

And he remained at the club after the Scot's sacking as one of three other members of the "Class of '92" who helped out interim manager Ryan Giggs in the final four games of the season.

But new manager Van Gaal has brought in three Dutch coaches -- Frans Hoek, Marcel Bout and Albert Stuivenberg -- and made Giggs assistant manager while Neville has been kept in the dark about his future.

And he hinted that he thinks he may have to move on, telling the BBC: "Football moves on and sometimes you have to move on. My future will probably be resolved in the next five days.

"I am speaking with the chief executive [Ed Woodward]. There is no fall-out. If I am not involved [as a coach] I am sure I will be able to play a part in it in other ways."

Neville's former teammate Nicky Butt was in charge of United's under-19 team before working with the senior side during Giggs' temporary regime.

The former midfielder stated he was keen to stay at Old Trafford, saying: "There isn't a role I would turn down. The last 18 months have been about my development as a coach. The next step might be managing different aspects of the game.

"I am open to anything but my biggest thing is to have a purpose. Whether that is with 12-year-old kids or the first team is irrelevant."
