Marouane Chamakh has prolonged his stay at Crystal Palace after signing a new two-year contract with the club.

Chamakh, 30, joined the Eagles on a free transfer from Arsenal last summer and went on to help the club avoid relegation back to the Championship.

With the Morocco international only penning a one-year deal upon arrival, Palace were keen to tie down a player who had been linked with a move to Queens Park Rangers this summer.

Chamakh, who scored six goals in all competitions last season, said in May he had always planned to commit his future to Palace.

"My first choice would be to continue my adventure with Crystal Palace. My priority is to stay here," he told the Palace Programme.

"The adventure here is not over. We've had a good season and built something really, really strong. I hope that will continue.

"I've played more football this year and that's why I came here. It was a challenge to play regularly, to enjoy my football and have fun again.

"I lost that before, so it was really important for me to find that emotion again. I needed that, I wanted that and I am so happy."
