Mikel Arteta's agent denies move

Mikel Arteta will not be leaving Arsenal for Fiorentina, according to the player's agent Inaki Ibanez.

Reports in Italy suggested Arteta was on the verge of joining the Viola, but Ibanez has dismissed suggestions his client would leave the Gunners for a side which finished fourth in Serie A last season.

"With all due respect, we're talking about the Arsenal captain here," he told Italy's Radio Blu.

"Arteta has no intention of leaving London. Mikel's 32 years old and he belongs to Arsenal. We've not spoken to anybody else. He doesn't have any desire to come to Fiorentina."

The Times has claimed Arsenal would be willing to consider bids in the region of six million pounds for a player they signed for 10 million pounds in 2011.

Fiorentina, who returned to preseason training on Wednesday, are looking to strengthen their midfield options following the release of Massimo Ambrosini.
