Gladbach to seal Thorgan Hazard loan

Borussia Monchengladbach are set to take Chelsea midfielder Thorgan Hazard on a season-long loan, the German club's sporting director has confirmed.

Hazard, the younger brother of Blues star Eden, impressed on loan at Zulte-Waregem last season but, having spent the last two years with the Belgian club, is now seeking to test himself at a higher level.

Eberl said in Rheinische Post that the 21-year-old, who is under contract at Stamford Bridge until 2016, is set to spend the 2014-15 campaign with Gladbach.

"We will sign one more attacking player, and that is Thorgan Hazard. We are currently exchanging the contracts with Chelsea," he said. "We have agreed on personal terms with Thorgan and also reached an agreement with the club. Only the contracts need to be signed now."

Gladbach, who will take part in this season's Europa League, have already made a number of signings as they seek to strengthen their squad.

They have already signed United States full-back Fabian Johnson from Hoffenheim and winger Ibrahim Traore from VfB Stuttgart on free transfers, and have also spent around 10 million euros on signing goalkeeper Yann Sommer from Basel and winger Andre Hahn from Augsburg.
