Reports in England suggested the Gunners were ready to make a 20 million pound bid for the 23-year-old winger, who was a member of Italy's World Cup squad in Brazil.

"We have not been contacted by Arsenal for Lorenzo Insigne and Napoli has not notified us of this interest," Insigne's agent Fabio Andreotti told Italian radio station Radio Crc.

"Lorenzo is a target of several European sides so it wouldn't surprise me if big clubs are interested in him.

"However, Napoli don't want to put him in the market."

Insigne scored eight goals in all competitions for Napoli last season as Rafa Benitez's men finished third in Serie A and secured Champions League qualification.

He also scored twice in a 3-1 win over Fiorentina in the Coppa Italia final.

The Naples-born player is under contract with Napoli until June 2017.
