Argentina to play 4-3-3 against Nigeria

PORTO ALEGRE, Brazil -- Coach Alejandro Sabella says Argentina will stick to its three-man attack in its last group match against Nigeria, though he hasn't yet decided who is going to be in the lineup.

Argentina has already qualified for the second round but needs at least a draw against Nigeria to win Group F. Sabella kept his cards close to his chest when asked Tuesday whether he would rest some of his key players.

The coach said Argentina "will almost certainly play with a 4-3-3 formation but I don't have the starters because I want to await the recovery of a few players."

He said "there is always a risk of a problem, someone feeling pain at the last moment, there's always a risk of a player being in doubt."

Sabella said the team had no special celebration of team captain Lionel Messi's 27th birthday on Tuesday: "we congratulated him last night after midnight.

"I didn't have time for anything more than a greeting," he said.
