The Ivorian Football Federation (FIF) has announced it will double Ivory Coast's World Cup bonuses if they defeat Greece and qualify for the knockout stages of the tournament for the first time in the nation's history.

Three points in Fortaleza on Tuesday will guarantee the Elephants a place in the round of 16, while a draw would be enough for them to progress as long as Japan do not beat Colombia in Group C's other remaining game. A defeat, meanwhile, would see them eliminated from the competition.

With Ivory Coast having failed to get out of the group stages in both 2006 and 2010, FIF president Alassane Ouattara has decided to offer the squad a financial incentive to inspire them to make history.

Currently, the players are each paid $24,400 for a victory, which would rise to $48,800 with a win on Tuesday.

A statement on the FIF's official website read: "The President of Cote d'Ivoire, Mr Alassane Ouattara, has decided to pay double the premium to the Elephants in the case of victory against Greece on Tuesday in a match counting for the third matchday of Group C.

"The information has been brought by Mr Soro Guillaume, president of the National Assembly, who made visits to the team on Saturday in their camp in Aguas de Lindoia."
