Daley Blind plays down United talk

Ajax midfielder Daley Blind has shrugged off speculation linking him with a move to Manchester United.

- Vermaelen to OT just Belgian waffle?

The 24-year-old has become a key member of incoming United manager Louis van Gaal's Netherlands team, prompting suggestions he could join his national team coach at the Red Devils.

But Blind, who has helped Ajax win the Eredivisie for the last four seasons, insists he is not getting carried away by the rumours.

"All the attention is a very big thing now, but I try not to think about it too much and will keep my feet on the ground," he told a news conference, according to Voetbal International.

"The link with Manchester United is easily made because [international teammate] Robin [van Persie] is playing there and Van Gaal takes over next season."

The versatile Blind operates as a central midfielder for Ajax but is playing as a left wing-back for his country, and set up their first two goals in the 5-1 World Cup win over Spain last week.

Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund have also been linked with Blind, whose father Danny captained Ajax's 1995 Champions League-winning team.
