Anfield manager Brendan Rodgers has made Spain international Moreno his top defensive target as he looks to strengthen his squad ahead of the Reds' return to the Champions League next season.

But Sevilla reportedly want 20 million pounds for the 21-year-old, and sources have told ESPN FC Liverpool feel that is too much for a player who so far has only three international caps.

The Reds are continuing to pursue a deal for Moreno, who was part of the Spain side that won the European Under-21 championship in 2013.

But Rodgers is looking at possible alternatives should he be unable to agree a fee for the defender, who was not named in Spain's World Cup squad after being included in the provisional 30-man party.

Rojo, who plays for Sporting Lisbon, has been scouted by Liverpool over the last 18 months, and impressed for Argentina as they beat Bosnia-Herzegovina 2-1 in the World Cup.

The 24-year-old joined Sporting from Russian Premier League side Spartak Moscow in 2012, having begun his career with Estudiantes in Argentina.
