Sampaoli: This isn't Chile at our best

Chile won their opening game at the World Cup against Australia on Friday night, but coach Jorge Sampaoli wasn't satisfied, saying his team can improve.

After scoring two goals in the first 15 minutes, Chile held on past some nervy moments to beat the Socceroos 3-1 and earn three points in Group B.

"The pressure that we put on in the first 30 minutes was good, we managed to subdue our opponents," Sampaoli said.
"Australia were able to overcome that, but I have a happy dressing room."

Tim Cahill scored to bring Australia back within one and had a few more chances to equalise as well, before Jean Beausejour finished the game off with a late goal.

"There are things that we can do better, this isn't us at our best," Sampaoli said. "The players gave their all for the shirt and were very professional."

Chile next face Spain on Wednesday, followed by the Netherlands, who beat the defending champions 5-1 earlier on Friday.

"To take on our other rivals, we must make our matches more complete," Sampaoli said.
