The Argentine goalkeeper made 33 league appearances as the Eagles turned their season around following a poor start to finish 11th in the table.

The club was dealt a blow on Thursday as midfielder Kagisho Dikgacoi left on a free transfer for the relegated Cardiff City, but Speroni's new deal will see him into his tenth season at Selhurst Park.

The goalkeeper told the club's official website: "I'm delighted. This is my home. This is where I always wanted to be, so I'm really pleased.

"I've been saying for months and months this was always my first choice. I'm really pleased we can forget about what happened, deal with it and look forward to next season now.

"The expectation will grow as long as we stay in the Premier League, but we are going to do our best, of course, try to stay in the league again and finish as high as we can."

The 35-year-old was voted Palace's Player of the Year for a record fourth time after an impressive 2013-14 campaign, in which he made his 300th league appearance for the Eagles as well as keeping his 100th clean sheet for the club.
