Giroud, Koscielny miss France training

RIBEIRAO PRETO, Brazil -- Striker Olivier Giroud and centre-back Laurent Koscielny missed France's training session Wednesday, while centre-back Mamadou Sakho took part after having a scan for bruising on his right knee.

France team spokesman Philippe Tournon said Arsenal teammates Giroud and Koscielny were both "rested" and had treatment from a team physio. He did not give any further details.

Sakho took a knock to his knee in Tuesday's training session, but tests on Wednesday revealed there was nothing serious and he should be fit to feature in France's opening World Cup game on Sunday, Tournon said.

According to RMC, Sakho, 24, felt pain in his right knee in training with Les Bleus on Tuesday, and left the team's hotel in Ribeirao Preto early on Wednesday to undergo an MRI.

The former Paris Saint-Germain centre-back is expected to line up in the heart of the French defence alongside Raphael Varane against Honduras in Porto Alegre in their first Group E encounter.

Right-back Mathieu Debuchy returned to training after injuring his thigh in last Sunday's friendly against Jamaica. The Newcastle defender was back after skipping Tuesday's public training session.
