Matty Fryatt leaves Hull for Forest

Hull's main striker in the FA Cup final Matty Fryatt has chosen to leave the Premier League to join Championship club Nottingham Forest.

The 28-year-old has left the KC Stadium as new Forest manager Stuart Pearce reshapes the squad he inherited from the sacked Billy Davies.

Fryatt, who was available on a free transfer after his contract expired, has signed a three-year deal with the two-time European Cup winners and will officially become a Forest player on July 1.

The former Walsall forward turned down the offer of an extended deal and the chance to play European football for Hull in favour of first-team football.

Fryatt was Hull's top scorer in their run to their first-ever FA Cup final and struck in the semifinal comeback to beat Sheffield United.

With January signings Shane Long and Nikica Jelavic both cup-tied, he began Hull's 3-2 defeat to Arsenal at Wembley, even though he never started a Premier League game for City.

"I am delighted to announce the signing of Matty Fryatt on a three-year contract, he is a player this club has admired for many years," Forest owner and chairman Fawaz Al Hasawi said.

"I am delighted to have finally got our man. I look forward to welcoming him into this great club when his contract starts on July 1."

Forest have also agreed to sign Sunderland midfielder David Vaughan and Southampton left-back Danny Fox, who were both on loan at the City Ground last season.
