Fabregas, 27, has been linked with a return to the Premier League with Chelsea after struggling to establish himself at Barcelona.

Pedro, a teammate for club and country, insists he has not discussed the possible move with the former Arsenal captain, but believes it would be a blow for Barca to lose such a talented player.

He told AS: "If in the end he's one of Cesar's [Azpilicueta] team-mates then that's a pity for us. I haven't spoken to him; he's happy and focused on the World Cup.

"In my opinion he's great in midfield, very complete. If he goes it will be a shame for Barça."

Pedro also played down Gerard Pique's conversation with Spain boss Vicente del Bosque in which he is claimed to have confirmed the deal is taking place.

He said: "It's an uncomfortable situation, comments that shouldn't have been made. They've spoken and that's it.

"They're focused on what they need to be focused on. It won't affect them, they're isolated. They've spoken about it and it's sorted out.

"They get on well, nothing has happened. I don't think it will affect anything. I don't know if the boss will be affected by it. It's happened and you can't go back. It's been resolved."
