MLS fines three players

NEW YORK -- Major League Soccer has fined one player for striking at the head and two for flopping.

The league says its disciplinary committee sanctioned Kansas City defender Igor Juliao for striking D.C. United's Davy Arnaud in the head or face in a game on May 31, and Montreal defender Hassoun Camara and Vancouver midfielder Sebastian Fernandez for attempting to draw fouls.

Camara was cited for simulation, which means contact was not made when he attempted to influence the officials in a match on May 31 against New England.

Fernandez's fine was for embellishment against Portland on Sunday, when he grabbed at his face and fell over despite being contacted only on his arms.

The amounts of the fines were not disclosed.
