Frankfurt sign Timothy Chandler

Eintracht Frankurt have signed U.S. international Timothy Chandler from relegated Nuernberg, the Bundesliga side announced on Tuesday.

The 24-year-old full-back signed a three-year contract at Frankfurt, with the club reportedly activating a one million-euro release clause in the player's contract.

Chandler left his hometown of Frankfurt for Nuremberg in 2010, and will now return to the club where he spent his formative years as a player.

"We are delighted this transfer worked out. It's nice that Chandler returns home to Frankfurt," Frankfurt sporting director Bruno Huebner was quoted on the official website.

Chandler will replace right back Sebastian Jung, 23, who will leave the club after 16 years to join Bundesliga rivals Wolfsburg.

"One homegrown talent has left out us, but another returns. We wish Timothy the best of success with the USMNT at the World Cup in Brazil," Huebner added.

Chandler has made 95 Bundesliga appearances for Nuernberg and scored four goals. He has won nine caps for the USMNT and is a member of the U.S. World Cup squad.
