Roberto Mancini: I would consider an offer to be Leicester City manager

Roberto Mancini has said he would consider becoming Leicester City's next manager if they were to make him an offer.

Mancini has been linked with a return to the club, for whom he played five times on loan from Lazio in 2001, following the dismissal of Claudio Ranieri last month.

However, he said he was not contacted by the Premier League champions, who have given caretaker boss Craig Shakespeare the job until the end of the season.

Former Manchester City manager Mancini told reporters: "I played for the Foxes and I am one of their fans, but that does not necessarily mean I will be their manager.

"I've never had any sort of contact with their directors, but then again if they do have a big, valid project in mind...

"I want to manage abroad again and I'd also like to manage the national team. I don't know where my future lies right now, though.

"Sometimes, managers end up where they are least expected."

Mancini, 52, has been out of work since being sacked by Inter Milan just weeks before the start of the season.

He said: "If I had stayed, we would have been so close to challenging Juventus."
