Pioli eyes Inter Milan improvements despite Europa League win

Despite closing out their Europa League campaign with a 2-1 win at home to Sparta Prague on Thursday night, Stefano Pioli knows the Italian giants need further improvements.

Inter were already destined to finish bottom of Group K before the game, as their embarrassing exit from the competition was sealed after a dismal run in their previous five group matches.

A brace from Eder was enough to bring some consolation to the team but Pioli is not prepared to sit back as he continues to rebuild Inter's season following a poor start.

"We tried to take the initiative, and we were focused, sharp and created some good situations," Pioli told Sky Italia.

"Clearly, at the moment, we still need to improve. [We must] be quicker and more effective.

"We are seeking a more balanced outfit [with a 3-4-3 formation] that can be more efficient both defending and attacking. We'll see what system is the most effective.

"All it takes is a negative incident -- which can happen, because we are not the best side in Italy and are recovering from a difficult situation -- and everything becomes more difficult.

"When there's a setback we tend to lose our shape and get stretched out."

Inter will now focus on league duties as they prepare to host Genoa on Sunday and continue their climb up the table from 10th place.
