Man United's Tim Fosu-Mensah dropped by Netherlands over fitness

Manchester United defender Tim Fosu-Mensah has been dropped by Netherlands because he is not fit enough, head coach Danny Blind has revealed.

Fosu-Mensah, who is eligible for both Netherlands and Ghana, received his first call up from Blind on May 6, before being subsequently removed from the squad. He has already featured for Netherlands at youth levels.

The 18-year-old made his United debut on Feb. 28 against Arsenal and has played 10 times for the club this season.

His most recent appearance was at Norwich on May 7, then he tweeted on May 10 that he was "recovering" and posted a picture of his right leg. He went on to miss the games against West Ham United and Bournemouth, as United failed to secure a top-four finish.

The defender is also set to miss Saturday's FA Cup final as United look to end the season with silverware when they take on Crystal Palace at Wembley.

"Timothy is 18, there's a lot come down on him in recent weeks," Blind said. "The reward for this was a place on the shortlist.

"I wanted him in the final selection, but you have to be fit. And he's not 100 percent fit at the moment. That's too bad. I wanted to see him, but I hope I can still see him at work after the summer."

Blind has named two other United players, Memphis Depay and his son Daley, in his squad for the international friendlies against Ireland, Poland and Austria.
