Manchester United vs. City ICC ticket sales suspended after explosion

Ticket sales for Manchester United's summer friendly with Manchester City in the United States have been suspended following the deadly explosion at the Manchester Arena on Monday evening.

The International Champions Cup game will take place in Houston on July 20, but there will be a delay in ticket sales following the incident at the Manchester Arena where singer Ariana Grande was performing.

A statement from International Champions Cup organisers Relevent Sports read: "In light of the terrible tragedy in Manchester last night, we are postponing the on-sale of Manchester United v. Manchester City. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families."

United have cancelled their planned news conference ahead of Wednesday night's Europa League final after the attack in Manchester city centre on Monday.

An event for club staff to watch the game against Dutch side Ajax has also been called off.

An email from executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward sent to United staff said: "I am sure you will all have heard of the tragic and horrifying events in Manchester. Our thoughts go out to the victims and families affected.

"As a sign of respect for the victims and their families, we have decided we should cancel the planned event. We are sure that in the circumstances you all understand and support this decision."

A date and time for when the tickets will be up for sale has yet to be confirmed, reports the Houston Chronicle.
