Houston set to host ICC game between Manchester United, Man City - sources

Manchester United are set to face Manchester City this summer at NRG Stadium in Houston as part of the International Champions Cup, sources told ESPN FC.

The ICC announced the July 20 game between the Premier League rivals last month, but the venue was still to be determined at the time. Multiple reports had previously said the game had been planned for San Diego.

United previously played at the nearly 72,000-capacity venue, the home of the NFL's Houston Texans, in the 2010 MLS All-Star Game, winning 5-2.

Jose Mourinho's squad will train in Los Angeles during their summer tour and face the LA Galaxy on July 15 and Real Salt Lake two days later.

They then begin ICC play against City before returning to California to face Real Madrid in Santa Clara on July 23, then fly east for a matchup with Barcelona on July 26 outside Washington, D.C.

United and City had been scheduled to play the first Manchester derby outside of England last summer in China, but the game was cancelled when the pitch proved to be unsuitable after heavy rain.
