Steve Bruce refuses to commit future to Hull after Premier League promotion

Hull manager Steve Bruce has refused to give any assurances about his future despite helping the club earn promotion to the Premier League.

The Tigers beat Sheffield Wednesday 1-0 at Wembley in the Championship playoff final but uncertainty over the club's ownership is bothering Bruce, who set a record with his fourth promotion to the Premier League.

Hull have been for sale since 2014 when owner Assem Allam's request to change the club's name to Hull Tigers was rejected by the Premier League.

Bruce told BBC Radio 5 Live: "I'll sit down with the owners. It's not often you walk away from the Premier League -- that's where I want to manage -- but I have to be given certain assurances that we're all moving in the right direction.

"I keep hearing too many stories that there's a takeover imminent. We'll see what develops."

The former Birmingham, Sunderland and Wigan manager considered his future following Hull's relegation in 2014-15 but is glad his decision to stay paid off as they returned to the top flight at the first attempt.

"I did offer, as ultimately I thought we'd failed and I knew how difficult a time it was going to be," he said.

"Thankfully, the owner didn't want me to go and I had a long, hard thought about it and thought 'Can I repair the damage from relegation?'

"In that respect, I'm very, very pleased that was my decision."
