Mamelodi Sundowns have confirmed the signing of Ghana international goalkeeper Razak Braimah.

The 30-year-old has penned a five-year conract, joining as a free agent after leaving Spanish side Cordoba in the summer.

It will be his first major stint on the continent after over a decade with mostly lower division Spanish clubs.

However, he will face a major challenge unseating current Sundowns first-choice Denis Onyango, the reigning African Player of the Year (based in Africa) and Uganda captain.

Braimah, capped 27 times for Ghana, was first choice for the Black Stars at the last two Africa Cup of Nations, but was dropped by coach Kwesi Appiah for the last three games.

He will be hoping his South African experience is markedly better than previous Ghana goalkeepers after Daniel Agyei and Fatau Dauda failed to establish themselves in the Premier Soccer League.
