Getafe sack Juan Esnaider after poor start to Spanish Segunda campaign

Spanish second division side Getafe dismissed coach Juan Esnaider on Monday after a poor start to the campaign.

Esnaider, 43, had been in charge of Getafe since replacing Fran Escriba on April 12 but the Madrid outfit, relegated from La Liga after finishing 19th in the standings last season, have lost four of their last five games in all competitions.

Getafe fell 2-0 at home to Girona in the Segunda Division on Sunday, a result that dropped the team to 21st in the 22-team league. They have one win and six points from their opening seven league games.

A statement from the club read: "A decision was taken this morning to dismiss Juan Esnaider as coach of this club. We want to thank him for the work done and wish him the best of luck in his professional career."

A former Real Madrid and Juventus striker who won three caps for Argentina, Esnaider had also previously served as Getafe assistant under Michel during the 2009-10 and 2010-11 campaigns.
