Leroy Sane to miss Confederations Cup due to nose operation

Manchester City winger Leroy Sane has pulled out of Germany's internationals next month to have an operation on his nose.

Sane was named in Joachim Low's selection for the friendly with Denmark in Copenhagen on June 6 and the World Cup qualifier with San Marino in Nuremberg four days later.

But the 21-year-old has now withdrawn from the squad and will also miss the Confederations Cup in Russia, which begins on June 17.

"I would have liked to have gone to Russia, but after talks with the medical team, I have decided to use the summer break for this operation so that I can go into the new season with a clean bill of health," Sane told the German Football Association's official website.

City head to the United States for preseason friendlies on July 17 ahead of the 2017-18 campaign.

Germany have until June 7 to submit a final squad to FIFA for the Confederations Cup.

Manuel Neuer, Mario Gotze and Benedikt Howedes will miss the tournament because of fitness issues, while Jerome Boateng, Mats Hummels, Sami Khedira, Toni Kroos, Mesut Ozil and Andre Schurrle have all been rested after a busy season and with the World Cup coming up next year.
