Thomas Muller felt 'useless' for Germany at Euro 2016

Bayern Munich attacker Thomas Muller felt "useless" in his position as the central attacker in Germany's 2-0 defeat to France during Euro 2016.

Muller, 26, was tipped to be one of the stars at the tournament but he failed to score a goal for Germany in the Nationalmannschaft's six games.

In the semifinal loss against France, Muller was deployed as the main attacker by coach Joachim Low, who had to do without the injured Mario Gomez, 31.

"I roved about too much," Muller said of his performance versus the French. "[I should have accepted] I was deployed as a central attacker and might be without a touch of the ball for 20 minutes. I didn't do that."

The Germany international admitted that he felt "useless" in his role, and instead tried to help by leaving the position, which "left the central attack vacated."

"That didn't help us," he said, before joking that his goalless Euro 2016 meant he had "a 100 percent goal rate: Didn't score in any match."
