Dortmund go top after beating Hamburg; Hoffenheim up to fourth place

Borussia Dortmund leapfrogged Bayern Munich back into top spot in the Bundesliga following a 3-0 win at Hamburg.

Former Manchester United midfielder Shinji Kagawa struck from close range before the break, while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Christian Pulisic added further goals in the second half.

Victory extends Dortmund's winning league start to five matches and lifts them one point above Bayern, who won 3-0 at Schalke on Tuesday night.

Hamburg, who opened their league campaign with successive wins, have lost their last three Bundesliga matches.

Hannover maintained their impressive start to the season despite being denied victory by a late equaliser in a 1-1 draw at Freiburg.

Martin Harnik opened the scoring for Hannover in the 65th minute and the visitors appeared on course for their fourth league win of the season until Nils Petersen struck with seven minutes left.

Hannover climbed up to third in the table, while Freiburg have drawn all three of their home league games this season and have yet to secure a win.

Hoffenheim moved up two places to fourth after hitting back from two goals down to secure a 3-2 victory at Mainz thanks to striker Mark Uth's stoppage-time winner.

Uth fired home in the second minute of time added on after first-half goals from teammates Nadiem Amiri and Sandro Wagner had cancelled out Mainz's two-goal lead, courtesy of early strikes from Danny Latza and Yoshinori Muto.

Hertha Berlin registered their second league win of the season, 2-1 against Bayer Leverkusen, who slipped to their third-straight league defeat on the road.

Goals from Mathew Leckie and Salomon Kalou gave Hertha a two-goal half-time lead and Julian Brandt's late effort for Leverkusen proved only a consolation.

Sebastien Haller's first-half penalty clinched Eintracht Frankfurt a 1-0 win and condemned the Bundesliga's bottom club Cologne to a fifth straight defeat.

Haller struck the only goal from the penalty spot midway through the first period after Cologne goalkeeper Timo Horn had brought down Mijat Gacinovic and that was enough to seal Frankfurt's second league win of the season.

Cologne had their chances, but visiting goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky was in fine form and the home side slipped to a sixth straight defeat in all competitions.
