Augsburg deepen Hamburg fears as Hoffenheim climb back to third

Halil Altintop struck twice as Augbsurg thrashed Hamburg 4-0 at home to claim three crucial points in their fight against relegation and increase their opponents' fears.

Altintop steered his side to a 2-0 lead at the half-time break, first producing a finish from the edge of the box and then doubling his tally from closer in after being set up by Philipp Max.

Max turned scorer in the second half to wrap up the points before substitute Raul Bobadilla put the icing on the cake with a fourth.

A dramatic late winner took Hoffenheim back into third place, securing a 1-0 victory as Frankfurt's hopes of an away point were thwarted in the 89th minute.

Benjamin Hubner was the Hoffenheim hero as he met a Sebastian Rudy corner and directed the ball into the net.

A draw would have been enough for Hoffenheim to guarantee fourth and the Champions League playoff, but the three-point haul saw them move back above Borussia Dortmund.
