Hoffenheim hold Schalke as Borussia Monchengladbach keep run going

Hoffenheim recovered from the concession of an early goal to take a point from a 1-1 draw at Schalke.

There were only five minutes on the clock when the hosts went in front as Alessandro Schopf converted a low cross, and they could have stretched that lead early in the second half when visiting keeper Oliver Baumann did well to keep out a wayward backpass.

That let-off seemed to galvanise Hoffenheim, who increased the pressure on their hosts and equalised when Sebastian Rudy fired home a cross as the game entered its final 10 minutes.

Borussia Monchengladbach's recent run of good form went on as second-half goals from Lars Stindl and Andre Hahn brought a 2-0 victory at Ingolstadt.

After a first half of few chances, Sindl opened the scoring just after the hour mark when an attempt to steer the ball clear by Marvin Matip cannoned in off him.

The points were secured with seconds remaining as Hahn wrapped up a fourth win in five league matches.
