Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben ruled out for six weeks with groin injury

Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben has been ruled out for six weeks after picking up a groin injury in Saturday's friendly win away to Lippstadt.

Robben, 32, limped off in the 4-3 win in Carlo Ancelotti's first game in charge and will now miss the early part of the Bundesliga season which starts on Aug. 26.

A statement on the Bayern website read: "The injury to the player's right leg was diagnosed after an examination conducted by the club's medical unit in Munich on Sunday. Robben will be sidelined for approximately six weeks."

Robben will hope to be fit for the start of Netherlands' World Cup qualifying campaign against Sweden on Sept. 6.

The player was restricted to just 15 Bundesliga appearances last season due to a similar injury.

He missed the last two months of the campaign, but prior to Saturday's fixture against Lippstadt, he had said he felt his injury agony was now behind him.
