Andrea Mandorlini replaces sacked Ivan Juric as Genoa boss

Genoa have sacked head coach Ivan Juric and replaced him with Andrea Mandorlini following Sunday's thrashing by Serie A basement boys Pescara.

Former Crotone boss Juric, 41, made a reasonable start to life at the Marassi following his appointment last June, but a recent run of seven defeats from nine had left the Rossoblu in 16th place.

The final straw came when Genoa lost 5-0 at Pescara, the bottom side who had not previously won a game on the pitch this season -- a walkover victory was awarded to them in August when opponents Sassuolo fielded an ineligible player.

A statement published on genoacfc.it late on Sunday night said former Croatia midfielder Juric had been relieved of his duties as first-team coach, with the Grifone turning to former Hellas Verona man Mandorlini.

The 56-year-old from Ravenna enjoyed a successful stint with Verona that ended several months before their relegation from Serie A in the 2015-16 campaign.

His first game in charge will be the visit of Bologna on Feb. 26.
