International Stadium Yokohama
Referee: Cuneyt Cakir
It means plenty to David Luiz - he was in tears at the final whistle. His team mates don't seem so bothered, more of a shrug and 'Where's the airport?' This will mean plenty in Brazil though, where this competition is taken a lot more seriously.
And as for the red card incident, FIFA have seemingly decided to introduce censorship as we have seen no replays of the incident. That is lamentable.
A dramatic end to a good second half and Corinthians are officially the best club side on the planet! They battled hard and took their chance, Chelsea played like a side who weren't imbibed with conviction but they did create enough to at least register one.
Mata nearly nicks one! He beats Cassio to the ball but can't turn it into the net from a tight angle and that is FULL TIME!
They're already dancing on the Corinthians bench.
Torres has the ball in the net but he is offside! Cassio came and didn't get it but the linesman has got that right.
Four minutes added...
Emerson is up and limping off, to be replaced by Wallace. Still no replay of the incident.
Cahill is off! No idea why. Emerson is on the floor and perhaps there was an elbow.
Excellent pass from Mata to Oscar but his chest control takes him away from goal.
Changes: Guerrero replaced by Juan Martinez for Corinthians and for Chelsea, Marko Marin on for Eden Hazard.
And that was Torres' big chance! The throw in falls to him seven yards out, with the keeper to beat and he fires it right at the Cassio. Oh dear.
That is better, he gets on the end of a Mata pass and executes a nice turn but loses the ball.
No movement from Torres as Mata looks to cross - he's having one of those days where he can't be bothered it seems.
Chelsea are at least throwing plenty of men forward but Lampard can't find Azpilicueta at the back post.
Azpilicueta comes on for Ivanovic.
Hard to see where the inspiration is going to come from in this Chelsea side.
Chelsea look leggy now - a very tired cross from Ivanovic to no-one in particular.
Poor from Emerson, looking along the line and still strays offside, Poor.
Corinthians aren't sitting back - Alessandro bursts forward and forces a hurried clearance inside Chelsea's box.
Chelsea attempting to inject some much needed urgency into their play.
Torres nods wide from Mata's cross, then trots off for a word with the ref. Not quite sure why.
Santos gets forward and takes a ball to the face - having time to signal for treatment before he falls to the turf clutching his nose.
Moses trots off and Oscar is on.
The referee takes an age to get his card out after a terribly late tackle from Luiz on Emerson.
A scrappy goal in the end as Danilo takes an age to shoot, Cech smothers his effort but Guerrero is on hand to nod home from five yards with two players on the line.
GOAL Corinthians in front! Guerrero!
Now Moses spins in a tired ball that sails out for a goal kick.
Another lamentable episode for Torres who ambles towards the corner flag and loses the ball so easily. A minor discretion but one that will infuriate fans as it makes it look like he's not even trying.
More trickery from Emerson, but a poor pass at the end of it. Come on, let's have a goal....
Decent effort from Paulinho on the half volley - Cech had it covered as it flashes wide of the post.
Lovely combination between Guerrero and Santos, involving a delicate back hell, and Corinthians win a corner.
Luiz intercepts a pass, then boots it towards the stands right by the line, nearly cleaning out a ball boy in the process.
A nasty fall for Torres as he tries to climb on the back of Chicao. He's up again though.
Guerrero looks dangerous as he gets into the area, Cahill watches him closely and concedes a corner.
Torres again shows nice control to bring down a long ball but then spreads it back out away from goal before a cross from the left sees Moses penalised for climbing.
A YELLOW CARD! Henrique booked for a trip on Mata. Odd the ref should choose to pull his wallet out now.
Emerson is a tricky player, again he steps inside Lampard and shoots but Luiz is in the way.
And a big chance for Hazard as he bristles into the box from Mata's pass - Cassio stands up well and makes the block. He's had a good game.
Very poor from Torres, giving the ball away when Chelsea had numbers in attack. A good flow to the second half already.
Ramires charges in to challenge Henrique after he'd nipped past Cole. Important challenge.
Emerson is a bundle of energy, this time he uses that energy to bundle Ivanovic to the floor inside the area.
Huge error from Alessandro as he allows Cole to rob him of the ball near to the byline, he finds Mata, his cross is nodded clear then Lampard's shot is blocked by a posse of white shirts.
A few chunky challenges flying in - most involving Luiz.
Chelsea's first foray of the half is down the right as Moses turns a rather aimless cross into the box.
We begin again....
Emerson and David Luiz battle for possession
HALF TIME - and there we are. A decent half, chances at both ends and surprising we haven't seen a goal. I have a feeling this one may spring to life in the second half.
A pretty cagey affair it has to be said.
Ivanovic is pole axed by Santos. No action taken, obviously.
Luiz has had a good game defensively so far. No marauding forward either - Rafa has put a stop to that.
Emerson is penalised for a strong tackle on Hazard inside the area. Ball winning and there is dissent from the player but not a word from the ref.
Mata the latest to test Cassio, and he had to watch that one closely. Get it? Never mind....
Guerrero catches the ball as it came to him, taking everyone by surprise. He'd taken a knock and is now receiving treatment.
And it nearly results in a goal - Moses switches wings and is well found by Mata. He tries to curl one into the far corner and Cassio makes a super save.
Santos unloads an effort that Cahill blocks and now Chelsea break...
A chance for Torres and a beautiful touch to take down a long ball from Lampard but he had to get his effort off quickly and couldn't generate enough power to beat Cassio.
Mata tees up Cole now and his effort is that of a defender, which is being nice.
A very good chance for Corinthians as Guerrero turns inside the box, Luiz blocks his first effort but he squeezes another one off that winds its way to the back post where Emerson can't turn it home.
Fantastic ball from Hazard over Santos but Moses' first touch id poor and Chicao can get back to put him off as his effort loops over the bar.
Lampard tries to take the free kick quickly but Torres can't reach the ball, even though he was onside.
Benini clatters Ramires - another certain yellow but just a free kick given. Its a novel approach. A bit like Royal Rumble.
Lovely lay off from the referee, as he inadvertently gets in the way of the ball. Corinthians then give it away and Lampard nearly slots Moses in on goal.
That's better, as Emerson capitalises on Cahill's mistake but balloons his shot over the bar from the edge of the box. Another good opportunity.
Its been a relatively quiet start all round really. Little in the way of meaty goalmouth action.
Torres strays offside as Cole crosses looking for him. A very quiet start to the game for the Spaniard.
A similar response as Guerrero turns nicely but then tumbles in the box under no contact. He should get a card for diving, even though Cahill did have a little grab at him.
Chelsea work the ball nicely from left to right and Moses has a shot blocked. Then he dinks the ball to the byline and collapses in a heap - the ref waves at him to get up and get on with it.
A good 15 minute spell for the Brazilian side, as their fans continue to chant and dance in the stands.
A woeful effort from Luiz, whose effort is weak and right at the wall, but as Corinthians break he is back quickly to mop up as Emerson charges forward with the ball.
Super ball from Cole and a lovely jink from Hazard who draws a foul from Chicao. Free kick on the edge of the box and again, that would be a yellow in any ordinary game.
Poor effort from Paulinho as he blazes over from range, Emerson's shot before that was far better but right at Cech.
Emerson intercepts a sloppy pass but is far, far too greedy when he had Guerrero free to his left. Luiz barges him off the ball. A huge chance wasted.
Rafa makes the long walk back to the bench from his technical area. Deadpan face as usual.
Just ruminating in the office on this decree that the referee keep his cards in his pocket. If I was a player I'd be thinking 'How far can I push it?'
Not much from Corinthians in an attacking sense so far - Chelsea making most of the running.
Watching the replay from that Cahill chance, it is a fine save from Cassio at point blank range. Excellent goalkeeping.
Now Ramires is in bother after an extremely poor challenge on Emerson. This referee must be under instruction not to issue any cards. Amazing.
How has that stayed out?! Cahill's initial header comes back to him and he fires goalwards from four yards but somehow Cassio clings onto the ball as Ramires piled in.
Lovely first time pass from Lampard and Torres just about collects - Ramires has a shot blocked then Torres wins a corner.
Poor from Ramires who can't find Moses and might have been better served looking for Torres.
Lampard tries a long raking ball over the top for Moses but overhits it. He's bound to be a little rusty (that does not necessarily mean overweight).
A block from Benini is roared by the Corinthians contingent. Moses had switched play nicely to Hazard, who was quickly closed down the the edge of the box.
Good noise in the stadium in Yokohama from the 30,000 or so Brazilians who've made the trip to Japan. That's a fair old poke.
Important interception from Hazard as a cross wangled its way to Paulinho.
Lampard is a little high and makes contact with Ralf. Usually an automatic yellow in European competition. Some leniency shown by our Turkish ref.
A ping pong start to proceedings, barely three passes strung together...
Before we begin, a moment's reflection to remember those killed in the horrific shootings in Newtown, Connecticut.
The teams are out into a well populated arena. Its fair to say this competition is seen as far more important in Brazil than it is in England, where it is seen as little more than a distraction. But make no mistake, it is one Chelsea are hell bent on winning.
Corinthians boss Tite announced his line-up on Saturday, which saw Jorge Henrique replace Douglas.
The big team news is that Frank Lampard is back to captain the side while David Luiz reverts to centre-back. Benitez also recalls Ramires and Victor Moses.
It's Chelsea v Corinthians in the Club World Cup final and a chance for Rafa Benitez to win his first trophy with the London club since joining less than a month ago. Will landing the prize endear him to the fans a little more?
