FULL TIME - a big cheer from West Ham's fans as they secure a point, which could have been better had Nolan's goal been allowed to stand. City were well on top but couldn't fashion clear openings in the final third. They remain third, two back from Man Utd, one from Chelsea. West Ham are up to eighth.
Barry battles with Benayoun and City have less than a minute to find a winner.
Scott Sinclair comes on for Nasri.
Three minutes added....
Toure tries to beat three players and find the top corner but it is all too tight and the ball flies over the bar.
Good header from Joey O'Brien, who has stepped into Collins' role, and he concedes a corner.
West Ham have been urged to get upfield by their manager and that is what they have done.
It's all far to tight for City on the edge of West Ham's box - they are looking for the magic touch that opens up a scoring chance but they can't find it.
Tevez goes off to warm applause, Garcia replaces him. For West Ham Collins limps off and Jordan Spence comes on.
Barry is basically playing as a striker now and he tries to meet Nasri's cross.
Barry beats McCartney to the ball and the defender is rightly carded.
Nasri's shot is blocked by Collins.
City take it quickly and Nasri gets a shot off, parried by Jaaskelainen.
O'Neil snaps at Nasri once, twice, three times and concedes a free kick. The crowd groans.
A change for West Ham as Carroll makes way for Carlton Cole. He's put some effort in has the big man.
A rare break from West Ham as Jarvis gets into the area and crosses but Carroll can't get his effort on target as he lunged in.
Nearly a mix up between Jasskelainen and Collins as Tevez's cross is patted down by the keeper.
An opening, finally, as Clichy's shot hits Collins, then the falling defender blocks Dzeko's follow up.
West Ham have everyone back behind the ball, even though City are only 30 yards from goal. No way through.
It still isn't happening for City in the area, Clichy's cross finds Dzeko but his lay off is intercepted by Winston Reid, who has had a good game.
Diame comes off to a decent ovation and Gary O'Neil is on.
Terrible pass from Tevez as he looks for Aguero - Dzeko had peeled off on the other side and the ball had to go to him surely.
Balotelli is removed and Aguero is on. Mario not happy. Shock.
Lucky for Barry the handball was given - spares his blushes a little.
What a miss! Barry charges into the area as Tevez broke down the left, and nudges the ball goalwards with his arm it turns out (the free kick was given in the end) but then puts it wide from five yards with the goal gaping.
McCartney wins West Ham a corner down the left.
Clichy tries to find Balotelli over the top but the striker was offside. Aguero being readied.
A clear opening for Tevez as Balotelli finds him through the middle, he gets away from Collins but blazes over with his left foot from 12 yards out.
You get the feeling one goal might win this - who is going to get it?
Decent football from City as Tevez is released down the left channel, he crosses for Dzeko but he can't get enough contact on the ball to take it goalwards.
Not a good 10 seconds for Benayoun, who gives the ball away, then clatters Tevez and is booked.
A good spell for West Ham this, they are back in the game and Carroll tries a flying overhead kick from McCartney's cross that flicks Clichy and flies narrowly wide.
A decent chance for Nolan as he meets Benayoun's cross but the ball hits his shoulder rather than his head and slinks wide.
Collins is carded for blocking off Dzeko, but Clichy was away down the left and Webb should have allowed the advantage.
More pressure from City as a deflected cross dribbles across goal before Benayoun concedes a corner, from which West Ham win a free kick.
From the free kick Carroll is just offside as the ball comes on. That is poor from the striker, the home side need to make the most of the few chances they get.
A needless free kick conceded by Yaya Toure as he fould Diame. West Ham really under the cosh here.
Jaaskelainen has made a total mess of that corner - just fumbling it under no pressure. Did he just take his eye off it?
McCartney concedes a needless corner with no-one behind him as a deep cross came in.
Lots of dinky passes swapped by City until Nasri finds Dzeko and his cross sees Balotelli miss his kick in front of goal before Tevez's tame shot is saved by Jaaskelainen.
Oh dear, such a waste from Diame as he races towards the edge of the box and then overhits a pass for Carroll.
An early knock for James Collins as he turns his ankle in a challenge with Tevez. He looks like he'll be able to carry on.
We begin again with no changes....
And while you are at it, why not read why Roberto Mancini's not concerned that the out of work Pep Guardiola could be in line for his job.
If you missed any of today's action in the Premier League, then you had better have a read of our wrap quick smart.
HALF TIME - a good half of football, West Ham starting brightly and unlucky to have Nolan's volley chalked of, City controlling the game from the 20th minute onwards.
Balotelli is getting closer, this time with an acrobatic volley from Nasri's cross. It was a few yards wide in the end but he did well to get a shot off.
Real chance for City as they work the ball wide of the area to Yaya Toure who flicks the side-netting with a shot. He should have gone across goal.
Balotelli gets a ticking off from Howard Webb after appealing for handball, which was never a penalty, then slagging off the referee.
Still a hard game to call but no doubt City on top at the moment.
Good work from Nolan, releasing Jarvis with a cute pas but there is no-one in the box and he ends crossing high over Hart.
I still don't think City are comfortable with this system. Three at the back isn't something they are used to.
Decent tracking back from Carroll after a West Ham move breaks down.
Very sloppy from Diame and an excellent intervention from Kolo Toure, he gets to the line and pulls it back but Balotelli can't get it on target.
City have enjoyed 73% possession in the last ten minutes.
Another poor final pass, this time from Dzeko, as Kolo Toure burst forward.
Oh dear Mario! He is right in front of goal, four yards out and volleys over the bar with only the keeper to beat!
Diame is clumsy and gives away a free kick on the left hand side. Yaya Toure limps off.
Clichy's cross falls to Balotelli who tries a volley but Benayoun blocks well.
Excellent challenge from Collins as Barry collected the ball 30 yards from goal with runners either side.
Reid and Diame sandwich Dzeko and Webb does award a free kick this time, much to the annoyance of West Ham's fans.
I'd fancy this if I were West Ham. City don't look fluid at all - it's still like something is missing.
Diame's cross is overhit and Carroll can't keep it in. Mancini and Balotelli have been arguing for a good five minutes now on and off. Very amusing to watch. They are like a married couple.
An errant touch from Dzeko spoils Balotelli's superb ball down the middle and allows Jaaskelainen to claim the ball easily.
Roy Hodgson is in attendance at Upton Park.
Tevez does well to retrieve a lost ball and find Dzeko but his shot is weak and right at Jaaskelainen.
Tevez then Dzeko complain about strong challenges on them, both by Noble. Tevez had a case with the first, Dzeko didn't with the second, that he bottled.
Great effort from Carroll as he wins a header, then gets the ball back from Benayoun before firing just wide of the post from 18 yards out. Hart hardly moved.
Toure is afforded plenty of space in midfield and decides to have a pop but though his effort is well struck, it was always rising.
Tevez takes the free kick and looks for the far top corner but that never looked like it was goal bound.
Now at the other end Dzeko is clipped by Diame and City have a free kick in a dangerous area.
Top effort from Benayoun as Jarvis' cross finds the Israeli at the back post and his side-foot volley flicks off the bar!
Carroll wants a penalty after he and Kompany grapple in the box but they were both at it and Howard Webb waves it away.
Clichy's cross is cleared by Collins, then the centre back hacks away again as the ball came in and looked like it would break for Dzeko.
Hart does well to rise high and claim a looping cross from Benayoun with Carroll lurking. He'll be tested aerially today you feel, the England stopper.
A thumper from Diame! Jarvis finds him in space and the midfielder cuts inside and laces a shot just over from the edge of the box.
Balotelli's free kick hits the wall then McCartney tidies up.
Now Diame brings Dzeko down and gifts City a free kick.
That's better from City as Balotelli touches off to Dzeko and Nasri forces Jaaskelainen into a smart save. Dzeko is flagged offside when he wasn't either. Come on linesman.
Noble looks like he's hurt himself blocking a Dzeko shot. Another replay of the Nolan disallowed goal underlines how West Ham were hard done by.
Good start from the home side here, not much from City in an attacking sense yet.
Now that was very close - maybe Nolan's arm was offside from the free kick but I think that should have been allowed. Either way, great finish.
From the free kick Nolan volleys home but the flag was up instantly.
Carroll already imposing himself, nipping past Yaya Toure and drawing a free kick.
A fast start to the game, lots of tackles snapping in.
Kick off - and just before we begin Tevez salutes the crowd with the Hammers symbol and gets a nice round of applause for his gesture.
A minute's silence at Upton Park ahead of Remembrance Sunday next week, impeccably observed.
But I think Andy Carroll will pose quite a few problems for City, and I'll be surprised if they keep a clean sheet.
So, a victory for City tonight will take them joint top of the table, should they win by four goals or more they will go top on their own.
The visitors, Man City, line up as follows: Hart, Kompany, Clichy, Kolo Toure, Nastasic, Milner, Yaya Toure, Nasri, Tevez, Dzeko, Balotelli
Here is the West Ham team news: Jaaskalainen, Collins, Reid, McCartney, O?Brien, Nolan, Jarvis, Benayoun, Noble, Diame, Carroll
