White Hart Lane, England
Tottenham probably deserved it in truth, they were more clinical, though Arsenal acquitted themselves well for large periods. That spell of mad defending in the first half has cost them. Spurs up to third above Chelsea, Arsenal now seven points behind with 10 games left.
FULL TIME - Tottenham have done it!
Gallas is coming on for Lennon.
Wilshere fouled, last chance for Arsenal. Walker kicked for booting the ball away.
Szczesny went up for the corner before Lloris punches clear then Sigurdsson is fouled by Vermaelen.
An opening for Podolski as a long ball falls to the box edge, deflected for a corner.
Arsenal going long now with Mertesacker up front. Assou-Ekotto boots the ball out of the ground.
A good interception from Vertonghen, again, as he prevents Walcott getting away then finds Bale with a nice pass.
AVB waves his arms around like a madman in his technical area. Wenger looks like he's desperate for the toilet.
Six minutes of added time....
Walcott shoots and bends it superbly but the ball curls too far and flies a yard wide.
Podolski wins a free kick 35 yards out to the left of the area.
Dembele hobbles off, let's hope it isn't too serious. Livermore is on.
Dembele is rolling around on the floor after dispossessing Wilshere, His leg bent the wrong way and that could be very nasty. Tottenham can't afford to lose him.
Giroud fires wildly wide from distance, after a nice first touch. Arsenal's crossing has been atrocious today.
Desperate times for Arsenal.
Bale's free kick is more shot than cross, right into Szczesny's arms.
Giroud fouls Lloris from the corner.
What a chance! Ramsey is in acres of space down the right and drags his shot wide, via a deflection. corner.
Terrible touch from Podolski as Giroud lays the ball to him inside the area. A better touch would have set up a shooting chance.
Cazorla is fouled and tries to take a quick free kick. Clatt is not having that.
Arteta trots off and Podolski comes on.
Parker misplaces a pass but he has been very good this afternoon.
More required from Arsenal - they need to push up the field more now.
Oh dear, another poor cross from Arsenal, this time from Ramsey. One bounce and out of play on the other side.
A fizzing volley from Bale as a corner is cleared to him but it is right at Szczesny. A yard either side and it was in.
Lennon does well to open up some space as Monreal retreats. His shot is blocked behind for a corner.
This is set up for a rip-roaring last 20 minutes.
Now Defoe fires narrowly wide after Wilshere's poor touch lets Parker away down the right. He got his shot off quickly but it was never going in.
Grat work from Defoe as he plays in Sigurdsson but his second touch let him down, Szczesny rushes out and he ends up trying to square the ball and Mertesacker clears. A golden chance.
Sigurdsson penalised for a trip on Walcott. Goo opportunity for Arsenal, free kick wide right.
Adebayor leaves on a stretcher - he landed awkwardly after going up for a header. Defoe is on for him.
Interesting to note Cazorla was down when Tottenham scored their second. No obligation for Arsenal to knock the ball out.
Adebayor went down and Arsenal played on. When they win a free kick Dawson goes mad at the referee and starts a shoving match with Vermaelen. Completely over the top reaction. Not even a booking for a very lucky Dawson.
A superb tackle from Vertonghen as Walcott shrugged off Assou-Ekotto and looked to go clear, now it is kicking off.
And then Walcott nods over from Monreal's cross. Arsenal looking strong in midfield now.
Good pressure from Arsenal now, Spurs penned in. Giroud's shot blocked Cazorla reworks.
Rosicky comes on for Jenkinson. Ramsey goes to right back. Odd.
What a chance for Bale! Dembele sends the ball wide for Assou-Ekotto and his cross finds Bale at the back stick but he blazes over from eight yards.
Giroud is down clutching his arm. He's been poor today. It was a nasty landing after an aerial challenge.
Excellent covering from Cazorla as Lennon tried to cross.
Now Walcott makes a good run but can;t control the pass to take it in on goal.
Lloris gambles on coming out to claim a cross from Jenkinson as Giroud charged in, he loses the ball initially but recovers. Another good opening for Arsenal.
Now Tottenham look under pressure, as they fail to clear and Monreal flashes a shot wide of the post as it breaks.
It's actually taken a nick off Bale. Mertesacker got to the near post and glanced it on but it may have been going wide until the touch from Bale.
GOAL Mertesacker pulls one back!
Ramsey does extremely well to shield the ball and win a free kick near the corner flag.
A bump of heads between Bale and Vermaelen.
Bale charges down the right and floats in an almost perfect ball that is just too far ahead of Adebayor, then Sigurdsson's curler curls wide.
It is impossibly obvious but I'll say it anyway - the next goal is crucial.
Here we go again....
An ominous stat for Arsenal: Tottenham have never lost a Premier League match at White Hart Lane when leading by two goals at half-time (W32 D1).
Bale in a familiar pose
Tottenham demonstrating that you don't have to have all the possession to win football matches - they have had two shots on goal and scored twice.
HALF TIME - Tottenham end the half with a chant of "Arsene Wenger, we want you to stay." Apart from that crazy two minute spell of defending, Arsenal have played well but lacked cutting edge. AVB's side haven't. Plenty work to do for the visitors.
Arteta fouls Adebayor. Tottenham want a card but Clattenberg isn't having it.
Another Jenkinson cross is cleared, first by Dawson then by Sigurdsson. They desperately need one back before half time.
Arsenal take the corner short and it doesn't work. It almost never works. Adebayor narrowly fails to get on the end of a through ball. Wenger and Bould look utterly miserable.
Well, where did that come from? Tottenham burst into life and Arsenal's frailties exposed again. They'd bossed the most of the first half too. Jenkinson wins a corner.
That is criminal defending, Parker is allowed to run 40 yards, Monreal is too deep and plays Lennon on and he rounds Szczesny to double their lead.
GOAL Lennon makes it two!
It had to happen! He had been quiet and as Sigurdsson slips him through the middle Bale finishes with the outside of his left boot. The curse of the commentator.
GOAL Bale scores!
Bale has had no impact at all yet.
Cazorla and Lennon battle
A lovely flick from Walcott sets Jenkinson away but he only really has Giroud to aim at and his cross is cleared.
A poor cross from Ramsey after breaking down the right.
Now Ramsey gets a card for failing to keep up with Lennon and choosing to bring him down.
Vertonghen is booked for a trip on Giroud. Clumsy.
Bale gets a break on the right and crosses but Mertesacker boots clear.
The corner is cleared to Assou-Ekotto whose fierce drive is blocked by a red shirt, then Adebayor goes down easily after a nudge from Wilshere.
Better from Spurs as Lennon looks dangerous with a few runs at Monreal, his latest yields a corner.
The final pass is all that is lacking for Arsenal, Spurs look vulnerable here *cue Spurs opener*
A good ball from Wilshere into Walcott, Walker tugs him back and gets a toe in. Lloris can't prevent the corner.
Bale evades the offside trap but can't get to Sigurdsson's pass then Giroud fails with a ball for Monreal.
Giroud again looks to latch onto a ball over the top from Wilshere but again Lloris is alert.
Arsenal have a new terrace chant about lasagne. Amusing.
What a surprise, a yellow for Adebayor. A poor touch then a rash lunge on Ramsey. Minimal contact but still dangerous.
Wilshere turns away from Parker and has options but his ball is poor as Arsenal had runners waiting to exploit Tottenham's high defensive line.
Giroud is putting himself about and worrying Dawson and Vertonghen.
Poor from Bale after a lovely session of one-touch passing gets him into space but his first touch is poor and Mertesacker intervenes.
A bit better from Spurs as they get a few passes connecting. Fining Dembele a little more.
Arsenal stroking the ball about confidently. Spurs having to sit and soak up the pressure as Lloris claims a Jenkinson cross at his near post.
More danger for Spurs as Walcott plays Ramsey through but he can't collect the ball properly and Lloris races out to the edge of his box to get a block in.
Tottenham haven't got going here and Bale has hardly had a touch.
A superb take from Giroud from Cazorla's pinpoint pass, Vertonghen does well to retrieve the situation and block the striker's fluffed shot.
Good start from Arsenal here, Wilshere feeds in Giroud who wins a corner from Dawson's block.
Walker marauds into Arsenal's half, then their penalty area before finally being curtailed. Arsenal break as Wilshere looks to play in Monreal.
An excellent ball in from Jenkinson is nodded by Dawson against Walcott but a corner is given. From it Giroud forces Lloris into a save with a near post header.
Giruoud lays off for Walcott and Dawson has to make a vital tackle to prevent the winger getting in on goal.
Vertonghen gets his feet in a mess as Spurs looked to break with Bale.
A very ping-pongy start to the game. Not more than two passes strung together yet.
From the free kick Dawson spurns a free header but the flag was up for offside.
Arteta takes out Lennon with the first meaty challenge of the day. Mark Clattenberg plays on for a good few seconds before eventually blowing for the foul.
Right, great atmosphere as ever and we are ready to go.
AVB's record against Arsenal isn't good though. Played two, lost two, conceded ten. And (prays this isn't bad omen) this game has seen more goals scored than any other Premier League fixtures - 121 in 41 games.
As ever, the stakes are high in this North London derby. Tottenham currently sit fourth in the table, four points ahead of Arsenal, and a win today would take them above Chelsea into third. The Gunners, surely, have to win today if they want to nudge into the top four come the end of the season.
As for Arsenal, Jenkinson replaces Sagna and Giroud starts up front again with Podolski on the bench. Ramsey is in for Diaby.
The team news is in, and Jermain Defoe is on the bench for Spurs. Adebayor starts up front and Sigurdsson and Assou-Ekotto come in.
