FULL TIME - Adam lashes the ball on goal but Howard punches clear and the final whistle goes. Three points for Everton and a victory they just about deserved. They move back within two points of Arsenal and pull away from Liverpool. Stoke are still in bother, just four clear of the drop zone.
An awful decision again from Jones as he penalises Osman when he got the ball on Adams. Free kick right on the edge of the box on the right hand side. Last chance saloon.
Poor ball from Jerome, a clumsy foul from Shotton and a yellow card for dissent.
Three minutes added....
Brilliant from Coleman - charging 75 yards up field and winning a throw. Roared on by the crowd.
Walters lands heavily again but picks himself up ready to go again #toughlad
Barkley charges into two tackles, wins the ball both times but is penalised by the referee and booked to boot. That is ridiculous.
Anichebe does superbly well to track Walters back, win the ball and then a free kick. He's been very good today.
Time for Everton to sit tight and not make any mistakes.
Desperate times for Stoke now - pressing men forward but losing their shape.
Coleman outwits Walters and is wrestled to the floor as a consequence. Everton free kick wide right.
Time for an Everton change - Mirallas limps off and Ross Barkley is on.
Charlie Adam and Kenwyne Jones replace Cameron and Peter Crouch.
Mirallas nearly grabs a clincher from a left wing cross - Stoke stab the ball clear as N'Zonzi makes a vital intervention.
A neat move from Stoke as Shotton back heels to Jerome and his shot arcs just wide of the far top corner with Howard beaten.
The latest ball into the box fails to find a Stoke head.
Kenwyne Jones is preparing to come on. Just returned from playing a friendly in Peru. Still gets the nod ahead of Michael Owen.
Looks like Begovic got a slight touch on that Jelavic effort - could have proved vital.
Jelavic takes this one and misses by a whisker.
It's all happening now - Baines' strike is blocked, the ball spills about and now Shotton is whistled for a foul on Osman and Everton have a free kick in an almost identical spot.
Shawcross bundles Jelavic over right on the edge of the box after getting himself the wrong side. A definite yellow and a great position for Everton.
Huth crunches into Jelavic. Foul but no card.
Anichebe is having an excellent game today - he shrugs off Walters and tries to slip in Coleman but the ball asked too much of the Irishman.
Good cross from Gibson to the back post - Jelavic beats Cameron but heads right at Begovic.
Mirallas wants a free kick after jinking past Cameron but the ref waves it away.
Jerome gets very good possession inside the area but seems to want to beat five men before shooting and is dispossessed.
A chance for Shotton! A really good cross from Wilson flicks off Distin and Shotton nods over from five yards after trying desperately to readjust. Unlucky.
Mirallas tests Begovic again as his shot takes a nick off Huth.
Oh dear, great work between Wilson and Walters, the latter back heels to the former but the cross is woeful.
It's a corner a minute this game! Baines wins one for Everton now.
Huth meets Whelan's cross and nods a yard wide. Should have scored.
A scramble from the corner as a flick pings about - then Anichebe fouls Jerome outside the area and Stoke have a free kick 35 yards out.
A good punch from Begovic as Anichebe lurked from the corner. Now Stoke go down field and win a corner themselves as Jerome is in strongly on Baines.
Stoke give it away, Baines finds Anichebe and he makes space for a shot and wins a corner.
Heitinga brings down a free kick at the back post but can't get it to Jagielka.
"Go on Steve, go on son," screams Pulis at N'Zonzi from his technical area.
Howard comes to claim Wilson's looping cross. Not enough pace on it to cause genuine trouble.
A low key start to the half it is fair to say.
Mirallas nods clear the corner then Stoke are penalised for offside as they try and work the ball back into the area.
Walters chases down a Jerome flick but Distin had it covered and concedes the corner.
We begin again....
Kevin Mirallas is congratulated on his superb solo goal by Leighton Baines
HALF TIME - and that is that. A very quiet opening but then Everton burst into life with a fabulous goal. Stoke have had their chances though and will feel confident of getting something from the game.
First yellow of the half - Anichebe bests Whelan, who then grabs onto his arm for dear life.
Stoke will be fuming if they go in one down - they've played pretty well so far.
Lovely one-two between Mirallas and Anichebe - surprised the Belgian didn't hit it first time - he goes wide and has a shot deflected behind for a corner.
As soon as the free kick is taken the ref blows for a foul on Huth, who just heaved Baines out of the way.
Horrible landing for Walters as Heitinga bumped into him. Right on his back. Meanwhile, Shawcross continues his argument with Jelavic - Anichebe and Mirallas getting involved.
A bit of chat between Jelavic and Shawcross. Plenty of "come on then's" between the pair of them.
Cracking strike from Walters and a fine save from a flying Howard. He struck that with some venom.
Coleman is clipped by Whelan but Jelavic's free kick is right at Begovic and lacking power.
The offside flag is up as Whelan's shot comes in from the edge of the box but the replay shows Crouch wasn't off from the strike. He was then tackled by Jagielka and Shawcross finished off but to no avail.
Great flying block from Baines as Shotton tried to cross.
A shooting opportunity for Baines but he goes for too much power and skews it wide. the pitch didn't help him to be fair - it isn't very good.
Osman fouls Jerome and Stoke can load the box. Jerome then gives away a foul from the delivery.
Howard claims the latest ball into Stoke's box.
Everton have come to life in the last ten minutes. Decent game in progress now.
Mirallas almost makes it two in a minute after firing wide from Jelavic's pass. Stoke surround the ref wanting a free kick but Mike Jones isn't convinced. Pulis is raging.
A superb break from Mirallas! He streaks away from a Howard punch, runs 40 yards, turns Cameron inside out and finishes superbly. Brilliant.
GOAL Fantastic Mirallas goal!
Now Stoke hit back and turn some dangerous looking balls into the box. Distin nods away.
Now from the other side, Coleman cuts in and fires wide when he had plenty of team mates in good positions.
Baines is getting into this now, he nicks the ball from Shotton and puts in a low cross, Jelavic dives in but Huth turns it behind.
Chances: Coleman's cross has Stoke scrambling then Baines stands up a lovely cross that Jelavic nods right at Begovic.
Finally some life from Everton as Baines gets into the box from Anichebe's ball but his touch takes him too far and he loses possession.
The home crowd howl their displeasure as Gibson's pass goes straight to a red and white shirt.
Excellent ball in from Wilson and a good clearing header from Jagielka. Stoke on top here.
Crouch penalised for a tug of Distin's shirt. don't know why he's complaining.
Another foul from Heitinga, on Shotton this time.
Wilson cuts in and crosses from the right - Howard holds firm.
Barca have just levelled at Celta Vigo - Tello with the goal.
Ambitious from Anichebe - trying to hit a bouncing ball from 35 yards out.
Osman's shot flicked off Cameron's arm and that could well have been avpenalty.
Huge shout for handball as Osman shoots on goal from outside the box. Nothing doing from the ref.
Jerome needlessly fouls Distin by the corner flag.
Jelavic tries to throw himself at a header but Stoke clear.
Crouch is bumped by Heitinga and claims a free kick. Mike Jones says now.
Anichebe breaks clear and gives it to Mirallas but his cross is cleared easily.
Crouch is almost playing off Jerome in the No. 10 role. Interesting.
It was actually Walters who hit the bar after Howard had saved from Huth. A crowd scene in the area from Shotton's long throw.
A sluggish start from Everton - no fluidity to their play so far.
Off the bar! Walters' effort parried by Howard before Jerome nods against the bar.
Great control from Jelavic, who will hope his goal against Man City can get him back into form in front of the net.
@Optajoe - Everton have suffered only one Premier League home defeat in the last year (W12 D6 L1).
No doubt a major disruption that Fellaini and Pienaar are missing for Everton. A chance for Stoke to grab something.
As for Stoke, they might be sitting in 12th but after Wigan's win today, the Potters are now only four points clear of the drop zone. They will be sneaking a glance over their shoulder I'm sure.
Plenty to play for here today - Everton need a win to take them back to within touching distance of the Champions League race. Arsenal are now five points clear of them. Liverpool are three behind them.
Stoke: Begovic, Cameron, Huth, Whelan, Wilson, Nzonzi, Shawcross, Walters, Crouch, Shotton, Jerome.
Everton: Howard, Baines, Coleman, Distin, Heitinga, Jagielka, Gibson, Mirallas, Osman, Anichebe, Jelavic.
