Referee: A Marriner
What a second half, and what an awful night for Newcastle. The worst day for them in the FA Cup since Hereford United.
The whistle has blown and Stevenage have pulled off a fantastic act of giant-killing. Revenge for 1998, and Newcastle have been shamed.
Jubilant scenes on the bench, and this has been a magical night for Stevenage.
Stevenage go on the attack. Long involved and played in Winn, and Krul is chipped. 3-1!!!!
Well, well, well, this would be turn-up.
A rocket from Barton...have we spoken too soon? 2-1.
Added time now. Cigar time for Stevenage....
Stevenage fancy this now. Barton is fouled but even he doesn't look up for this fight.
We enter the last minute. Nothing can be expected of Newcastle, they have been awful.
Airey goes for glory. It is way off target. No surprise, considering he is a Toon player.
Simpson, aimed at Ranger but a poor header down and Day claims. This is too easy.
Newcastle, are, we are saying here, unbelievably bad. They have been bested with ease. It doesn't even look like a shock victory.
Bostwick fancied a volley but smashed over. It came off a Newcastle player though. Another corner.
Ronnie Henry off, David Bridges on.
Routledge tries to go through but is blocked by sheer weight of numbers.
Chris Day palms a corner away. Stevenage again attack. Long is stopped. But Simpson concedes a throw.
Newcastle are a rabble, we think it was Winn who made that miss. Colocinni was dithering on the ball and had to smash it away. This is truly embarassing for the Toon.
Ladies and gentlemen, the worst shot in the world was just taken. He also looked like he was running in sand. It was so bad that we can't work out which Stevenage player it was.
Joey Barton to play the ball in. Keeper Day fumbles it and Ashton clears. Lucky Chris Day, because Newcastle were in there.
Phil Airey comes on for Peter Lovenkrands. Airey is a reserve star. He can become a local hero now.
Laird heads behind. A good ball needed from Barton. He smashes it in, but as ever it comes to nothing.
Alan Pardew's Tyneside stock just hit rock bottom. His team have been woeful.
Laird fouled now. Stevenage looking comfortable here.
Silly stuff and Tiote will miss the next three matches. All very nasty for Newcastle. Joey Barton is getting involved now.
Tiote made a rash challenge, on Jon Ashton. There is a melee, and he is rightly sent off for a ludicrous foul.
The stats show Newcastle have had six shots. I struggle to recall them.
The ball is back with Krul as Newcastle look listless and unable to create anything.
Barton is booed, and then the move comes to nothing.
Nile Ranger has been a lone Ranger. And seen nothing of the ball. After that miss against West Ham, he seems an odd choice.
Routledge's ball is out of play. Woeful from Newcastle. This is a shocking display.
Newcastle hack clear as Beardsley heads on goal.
Wilson looked to be fouled by Tiote, but no penalty. Newcastle again fortunate.
Offside against Stevenage as they threatened again.
Newcastle really are not enjoying themselves. This is shades of Hereford United stuff.
Beardsley has received treatment and will come back on. Free-kick booms in but is cleared.
Newcastle are in big trouble. Tiote comes on for Smith.
Colocinni makes a rash foul on Beardsley and is rightly booked.
What a goal and we have a shock on our hands. I take it back, the cup of dreams is brimming over now.
Bostwick smashes in a fine shot and Krul is beaten fair and square this time.
Corner to Newcastle, and Barton will take. But it's wasted as offside is soon given.
Long on the wing again, his ball in was not good enough and Newcastle can clear.
Corner is wasted when Ranger commits a foul.
Nolan tries to make immediate amends. Long shot and Chris Day palms over. Corner.
Krul luck for the keeper....
Stacey Long shoots. Mike Williamson's head gets in the way and the ball is in the back of the net. Deflection beat Krul and it's 1-0!! GOAL
Barton the wronged party will take the free-kick.
From scoring a hat-trick in midweek and then subbed against Stevenage. Oh dear, Best.
Leon Best off, and Nile Ranger on.
Newcastle attack with Perch. His ball would have required Nolan to be on a Perch. (Sorry)
First hoof of the half. Nothing doing.
Back for more? I am. Let's hope for better.
Lomas in the house: "Stevenage have certainly not looked overawed, though Newcastle have played a part in that by failing to show their Premier League quality. Routledge has been the one bright spark and the Stevenage fans around me are worried about him going up against their left-back Laird, who apparently fancies himself as "a bit of a Gareth Bale" and doesn't always track back properly."
Could do better. Yes, I could. Newcastle and Stevenage have served up a turkey.
Flick on for Winn to run on to. Krul claims and that, mercifully, is it for the half.
Chris Day deliberates. He kicks clear. Then there's a row about a throw-in. Yep, that's the sum of it.
Added time means more of this. Oh dear.
Three minutes of added time.
Newcastle lose the ball in silly fashion. Off go Stevenage. A slidy session from Alan Smith and Laird and it's a goalkick. Oh dear. This is tedium.
Barton plays it out to Routledge, who wins a corner. Barton delivers, but it comes to nothing.
Ball drifts through to Chris Day. Stevenage aim to play a build-up, but waste it.
Danny Simpson on the burst. But, no. Then there's a foul. Free-kick to Newcastle. I'm struggling here.
Some coaching going on too from Graham Westley. Drop-ball back with Krul.
Beardsley looks to be hurt. Time for a drinks break. I know the feeling.
Bad corner. And it's cleared. Long throw to be launched. Nope, Stevenage waste it. Hmm.
Williamson has to clear as Krul flaps.
A game of head tennis is in session.
This is no classic. God knows, it's not. We are debating who is the Premier League team. Mark's gone quiet too.
Routledge comes away from the corner but Mousinho fouls him and is booked for his troubles.
Great shot from Bostwick. Krul makes a fine save. Best football of the match.
Barton has it and is booed accordingly. His long ball is cleared.
Krul palms clear.
Colocinni is acrobatic in heading behind. Corner to Stevenage.
Good cross from Stacey, yes Stacey, Long. But Newcastle clear it.
A definite lull. A yellow card for Leon Best as he leaves an arm on Laird.
This is not a classic. To say the least. Not done yet though.
Beardsley on the right but cannot get it in. Krul claims.
Wilson makes a buccaneering run into the box, looks to be fouled, but then lashes out on Williamson and two wrongs do not mean a right.
Stacey Long with a neat turn, but Wilson's long pass is off target.
The cup of dreams is yet to serve up much here in the way of fantasy but Stevenage are in this game.
Smith penalised and booked. Second offence for him.
Nolan out to Routledge. But he's stopped in his tracks.
Henry free-kick. Headed away. Newcastle clear their lines.
Kev Nolan makes a foul on Long that sees him lambasted in the stands as a "dirty Northern b**tard". He is not booked.
Wayne Routledge on the run, and plays a pass to no-one in particular. It drifts out.
Lovenkrands bundles it to Barton but the shot is fired over. Much amusement.
Ball played in by Perch, but nothing doing when Lovenkrands looks for a foul.
Alan Smith, lesser spotted, is playing. Remember him? He's not touched the ball yet.
Barton with a corner, it takes some time to be delivered. And is useless.
Bostwick shoots and it's hurried behind. Corner to Stevenage. It looked goalward. But Krul didn't have much of a save to make.
He's booed aplenty. Ball smashed clear. Beardsley on the run, and is tackled.
Free-kick. Barton, of course, will take.
Stevenage finding their feet. By doing plenty of heading.
Colocinni makes a fine tackle, and Newcastle attack. Ball across from Perch and Barton shoots only for Day to save. Corner.
Barton falls down and wins a free-kick. Looked harsh.
Newcastle twice smash the ball out, and are yet to settle.
Nolan is OK. A break in play there. Long kick from keeper Krul as he falls over.
He's bleeding too. Looks nasty and he's dazed.
Kevin Nolan got the ball right in the face. Ooof.
Stevenage get us underway.
Good atmosphere. The Stevenage roar is upon us.
And, to quote Ron Pickering, "Away we go!". New town versus Newcastle.
Leon Best and Peter Lovenkrands. That's a strike force to strike fear into the hearts of a League Two clubs.
No, Mark's back. He's on his Iphone, the flash get. "Right in the thick of things here, it's great! Noise growing from the Magpies fans, they're getting excited about the presence of King Kev!"
More Mark: "Giuliano Grazioli plus six of the team from 13 years ago have been invited along as guests of honour. I'm about to get kicked out of press box because my seat is among the fans in the corner of the ground." So, no more Mark.
Mark again: "Was chatting to the young Stevenage mascot, who is also a Newcastle fan - asked him who he thought would win and he said: "Newcastle will beat Stevenage any day of the week. Good faith."
And no, that's not Peter Beardsley's son.
Stevenage: Day, Henry, Long, Roberts (captain), Ashton, Laird, Wilson, Long, , Bostwick, Winn, Beardsley
Newcastle: Krul, Perch, Coloccini, Williamson, Simpson, Routledge, Smith, Barton, Lovenkrands, Nolan, Best.
"Stevenage fans already vocal with the "Shearer is a w***er" chants!" Plus "it never crossed the line". That's a reference to one of Shearer's goal last time.
Our very own Mark Lomas is at the game and has hit me already with some facts.
Back to the ides of 1998 as Newcastle travel to Stevenage. No complaints this time about being there, if you remember the furore that surrounded the last meeting.
