UEFA Champions League

Allianz Arena, Munich, Germany
Referee: Tom Henning Ovrebo
Full time. That is that and the Fiorentina players go ballistic. The officials have robbed them tonight, and Tom Henning Ovrebo has to be removed from the referee's list as soon as possible, for his own good if nothing else. Still, they have an away goal and the return leg will be an intruiging affair.
Now Olic wastes a good chance to cut the ball back as Fiorentina players struggle to contain their rage. Again Robben has a go but Frey saves with his legs this time.
Robben again skips past Donadel and crosses but it is right at Frey.
Robben skips into the area again but a good tackle from Koldrup denies him a chance on his favoured left boot.
Another jink into the area from Robben but the angle is too tight and he can only hit side netting from a yard from the byline.
Vargas is booked for his preotest but you have to feel for Fiorentina. That linesman sent off one of their players unjustly, now he has missed such a blatant offside it is untrue. He was looking right down the line at it.
Robben again is the main man. He cuts inside and shoots, Olic tries to turn in the rebound but it skews sideways to Klose, who is two yards offside but no flag goes up. Incredible!
What a miss! Lahm gets into the area and has a wealth of options, he pulls it back where Olic and Van Bommel get in each other's way but the Croatian blasts it over from 12 yards.
Another Robben effort, another block, another corner.
Robben cuts in and stands up a ball for Klose but Frey is out fast as lightning to grab it and snuff out the danger.
Fiorentina's last change: Natali comes off and Pasqual comes on.
Donadel is coming on for Montilivo. The stats flash up to show us he's covered 10km tonight. Not bad.
Conteno's cross is inviting but Klose and Olic get in each other's way. Shoddy.
Robben swaps passes with Klose and hits one but Montilivo had tracked him and blocked the shot well.
Robben's ball to the far post was good but no-one was there. Marchionni chests behind when he should have let it go. The corner comes to nothing.
Another passage of pitiful football as Fiorentina give the ball away then Lahm knocks a simple pass right out of play.
Klose has now gone in horribly late on Felipe with his studs up and he gets a yellow. Obviously a different set of rules apply for Bayern.
Marchionni now gets a yellow card after a tackle on Van Bommel. That was also ridiculous. Viola are furious with our esteemed referee.
Frey does well to punch away a looping ball in the area. Balls are flying into the Fiorentina box now.
This will be backs to the wall stuff for Fiorentina now, and they make a change: Jovetic is off and Felipe comes on.
Ridiculous. An awful decision from Ovrebo. Gobbi turned after Robben knocked the ball past him and had an arm out but there was no intent there and the italians are stunned when a red card is produced. Robben, of course, made the most of it.
Jovetic's run is cut short by a good Van Bommel challenge then Robben takes a massive dive and Gobbi gets a straight red.
Olic has looked very lively and he combines with Ribery to win a corner.
Viola hit back with a shot from Marchionni but Butt handles comfortably.
Now Klose is released by a neat flick from Olic. He had to wait for Olic to get into the box but his ball is too close to Frey.
Now Ribery flies down the left and crosses and just as it looks like Olic will connect, Koldrup intercepts. Good defending.
Very neat from Olic as Bayern suddenly look more potent up front. He works space but can't get his shot on target.
Ribery's corner is met by Klose but Natali hacks clear from just in front of his goalline.
Olic wins a corner in his first involvement.
Gomez comes off and Olic is on. Muller makes way too and Klose is on.
Ribery goes flying again but Bolatti is innocent and it is a goal kick.
Great work from Vargas, who gets round Demechelis, his pull back finds jovetic but his left foot effort is utterly lacking in conviction. He doesn't even get a clean contact on the ball.
De Silvestri and Ribery both take a dive at the same time. Amusing that.
The crowd are doing their bit at least, creating a cracking atmosphere. Can the players respond?
Best move of the match as Ribery feeds Muller, he crosses and Robben hammers one wide of the far post. They are getting closer.
A super run from Robben down the left and he turns a ball right across the goalline. Natali tries to clear but shins it and the ball trickles wide of the far post. A good burst.
Marchionni is adjudged to have impeded Contento but Bayern waste the free kick.
Lahm raids down the right but should have crossed before he lost possession. Both full backs tearing forward now though.
Contento does well to outrun Marchionni and clear his line. The game has opened up quite nicely now.
Jovetic flashes a shot right at Butt and Bayern are wobbling a bit here.
De Silvestri is booked now.
Well, now that makes things interesting. A precious away goal for Fiorentina and now Bayern have to come forward and rack up the goals.
A Viola corner ricochets off Jovetic and falls at the feet of Koldrup who tucks home from six yards out. Game on!
Now Contento gives Badstuber a horrible ball and he can only knock it out of play. Bayern win the ball back though and go upfield to win a corner.
Less than convincing defending from Bayern again as Schweinsteiger shanks a clearance and Gobbi nearly profits.
Contento has gone to left back and Badstuber has gone to centre back. Viola win a corner.
We begin again but Bayern have made a change: Van Buyten has gone off and Diego Contento has his Champions League debut.
GOAL! Robben! The Dutchman scores for the sixth game in a row and thank goodness he did after the ref made a poor decision to give the penalty rather than the goal. That should is that for this half.
What's happened here! It's a penalty after Ribery was blocked but then Gomez put it into the net a second later. A poor decision from the ref. Why not give the goal?
Terrible football from both sides as they give the ball away at will. Jovetic nearly gets into the area but not quite.
Badstuber is off the pitch and Viola exploit the space as Marchionni looks for Gilardino but his effort skims off Van Buyten and behind for a corner.
Another run from Robben this time ends with a shot but it is right at Frey.
Lovely skill from Robben who skips onto his left and flicks a lovely ball into Muller but he can't get his feet sorted in time to get the shot away.
Good pressure on the ball from Viola as Butt is forced to clear quickly. Then Schweinsteiger wins a free kick.
Van Bommel takes a dive, then charges after the ball. He is penalised for bringing down Natali. He needs to be careful here.
Neat approach play from Bayern as they work a chance for Gomez to shoot, but he blasts it over the bar. Poor.
Van Bommel tries a long ball but as soon as it bounces the ball races off the turf and out for a throw in.
Nice move from Viola, with a disappointing finish. Gilardino spreads it wide for Marchionni, he lays it back to Montilivo but his shot skews wide of his left boot.
From it Demechelis rose well but nodded over the bar.
Van Bommel buys a free kick off Vargas. Robben swings it in and though it was going out Koldrup concedes a needless corner.
Robben is at it again, after a jinking run he claims he was tugged back. Nothing doing from what I could see, he just lost control.
There's the argument against a left footed player lining up on the right. Robben runs down a long ball but has to try and cross right footed. It goes behind for a goal kick.
Robben sums up Bayern's malaise with an aimless through ball right to Frey.
Montilivo is still feeling the effects of Van Bommel's challenge a moment ago. The physio is on.
Bayern have only scored once at home in the Champions League this season would you believe. They'll be hoping to more than double that tonight.
Nice to see Mark Van Bommel hasn't changed. After a cruncher earlier, he nows jumps into a tackle two footed and is rightly carded.
A great break from Fiorentina sees Jovetic release Vargas. Gilardino is waiting in the centre but Demechelis clears.
Badstuber crosses but Koldrup clears at the second attempt. Fiorentina proving hard to break down so far.
Jovetic fouls Lahm by the corner flag.
Gobbi gets a taste of Robben's modus operandi as he flicks out a leg and the Dutch winger tumbles like a drier. From the free kick Ribery strikes but Frey beats it away with his legs.
Montilivo has a crack from distance but that is way off target.
Robben dribbles a cross into the box with his right foot but Koldrup clears, then Van Bommel clatters Jovetic.
Sol Campbell has pulled Arsenal level in Porto, by the way.
Natali has missed a great chance! Vargas swung the ball deep to the far post, it looked like the defender was bound to score but the ball slid off his head and wide.
Now Badstuber has given Fiorentina a free kick after a late tackle on Marchionni. It is wide right, by the touchline.
Gilardino was clean through down the right side then with Badstuber nowhere to be seen but just as he got into the area he slipped. He manages to win a corner though.
It's all gone a bit scrappy here. Bayern yet to get into any sort of rhythm.
The pictures dropped out for a minute then. Didn't sound like much was booting off though.
A fabulous ball from Van Buyten finds Gomez inside the area and he gets a shot off but the angle was tight and Frey saves sharply.
Arsenal are behind in Porto after a howler by Fabianski.
Robben controls well but his cross is hammered away by Koldrup.
The corner is flicked on by Natali but Bayern clear.
Van Buyten and Butt have a right old go at it as a ball over the top ends in an almighty tangle between the two Bayern players and Gilardino. Van Buyten wanted his 'keeper to come but in the end they are lucky to escape with a corner.
Robben has a run at Gobbi and is convinced he's won a corner but the linesman gives a goal kick.
The ball is zipping off this wet turf which is making precise passing and control somewhat tricky.
Vargas whips in a free kick that Demichelis clears then two last-ditch challenges from those in blue manage to thwart another attempted Bayern counter.
Gomez controls well but his ball to Robben is massively overhit and a chance to break is lost.
Robery has his first run but the most notable thing about it is his white tights. Robben is wearing some too. Quite off putting really.
Now Gobbi gets down the left and crosses, Van Buyten heads clear and Bayern regroup. Good start from the visitors.
The pitch looks sodden as Marchionni fires in the first shot of the evening but it flashes wide of the post.
Our ref is Tom Henning Ovrebo. You remeber him - he's Chelsea's friend.
The teams are out and those aerial shots of the Allianz Arena glowing red never fail to impress. Here's to an end-to-end game with lots of goals. Please.
Bayern, of course, will attack and they have plenty of potent weapons in their armoury. They have won their last 12 games, scoring 40 goals in the process. Arjen Robben has scored in each of his last five games while Mario Gomez has grabbed eight in his last 14 games.
Fiorentina are no mugs though, they won all their games at home in the group stage, and beat Liverpool at Anfield for good measure. They will more than likely put the emphasis on containment tonight, and try to topple Bayern back in Florence.
On paper there looks like only one winner in this game; Bayern have won their last 12 in all competitions while La Viola have taken just one point from their last five Serie A games. But we all know better than that, don't we?
