Stade de Sclessin
Referee: Eduardo Iturralde González
That's it! Arsenal get out of jail after a nightmare start in which they conceded two goals in four minutes. Three goals have rescued them though, despite the dodgy second.
Great challenge Gael Clichy to prevent De Camargo from shooting. That could have been an equaliser...
Three minutes added...
Diaby shoots wide but he'd been penalised for handball anyway...
Arsenal trying to run the clock down now....
Nicaise fouls Song...
A poor cross from Ramsey means Bendtner can't collect a ball in front of goal. It should have been 4-2.
Eduardo is off and Wilshere is coming on. The Croatian striker rescued an awful game with a goal.
Witsel is coming off and Traore Moussa is coming on...
The stadium is silent all of a sudden - that has knocked the stuffing right out of Liege's fans.
What a turnaround in this game! Arsenal hardly deserve it but they are somehow leading...
He's had a shocker today but he knees the ball into the net from six yards out after a corner. He's redeemed himself for the earlier error.
Now Vermaelen has a flick from the corner cleared off the line! Arsenal reborn!
What a save from Bolat! An incisive move (finally) from Arsenal as Fabregas gets to the byline and pulls it back for Eduardo. His shot is net-bound but the 'keeper makes a brilliant save..
How that is not offside I don't know, Song was two yards off then handballed it into the path of Vermaelen who taps in from two yards!
GOAL! Vermaelen! What a scrappy one!
Eduardo buys a free kick with two defenders in attendance. Sagna and Wilshire are coming on but after the set piece.
Mannone tries to chuck the ball out but Witsel got in his way and gets booked.
Liege win a corner...
Fabregas shoots from 25 yards but got no power in it.
A decent ball in from Carcela sees Gallas stretching to clear.
Eboue gets the ball wide on the right and hammers a cross straight out of play. Arsenal have reverted to their shocking first half ways.
Ramsey skips around a challenge and has a pop but his daisy cutter is held by Bolat.
Arsenal change. Rosicky comes off and Aaron Ramsey goes on.
Song brings down Mbokani - he's had a good game the striker.
Another terrible free kick from Fabregas goes too long and out of play. Arsenal's set plays have been village.
A yellow card for Nicaise after tugging on Bendtner's shirt.
Now Eduardo blasts this one over everybody. Shocking.
A complete waste from Arsenal, the short corner misses all targets. They win another one though.
Fabregas shoots and Mangala's block turns it behind for a corner.
More Arsenal intricacy leads Fabregas to loft a ball for Eduardo but he is flagged offside. One of those occasions when you wish someone would just have a pop.
Dalmat bursts down the right as Arsenal look short at the back but Vermaelen gets across to block.
Rocha puts in a quality tackle on Bendtner, who had telegraphed his move on the wing.
Song does well to dispossess Mbkoani and Eboue goes down the right but just as he gets into the box he falls over the ball. School boy stuff.
Liege substitution, Jovanovic comes off and Nicaise is on.
Dalmat's flailing arm catches Fabregas, unintentoinally, and Arsenal have a free kick about 35 yards from goal.
Mbokani gets round the back on the right after Clichy dives in unnecessarily. As the ball comes across Eboue turns it over his bar for a corner.
A poor ball into the area from Song. Too long, too wide and generally rotten.
Diaby meets an Eduardo flick on but Mangala prevents him from going through on goal.
The crowd howl as Rosicky wins the ball well from Carcela. No foul there though and no sympathy for Carcela from the ref. He was making a right meal of that.
Free kick for Arsenal on the right wing as Eboue is fouled but Bolat catches easily. Fabregas' delivery has been found wanting tonight too.
Its all too tricky in there and Eduardo loses possession. He's had a mare tonight. Probably still thinking about that flick that led to Liege's first goal.
This is going to be a rip roaring half if it carries on like this. Wenger has clearly told Arsenal to go out and win, and win well.
Rosicky picks up a ball from Eduardo and looks for Bendtner but Bolat is out to hack clear.
What football that was! Rosicky's 50 yard ball sailed over Mangala's head and Bendtner took it beautifully but the defender nickled the ball away before the Dane couls shoot. Great start to the second half...
And straight away Song gives the ball away and Clichy makes a stunning block to prevent Mbokani making it 3-1!
We begin again...
Half time and what a crucial goal that could prove to be from Bendtner. Arsenal have something to build on after a nightmare start. See you back here in 15 minutes...
Decent run from Diaby and a good ball into Bendtner who slides his shot under Bolat and into the net. Great time to score.
Eboue does well to get a head on a ball Jovanovic was after. Mannone claims.
Arsenal win a free kick and Fabregas swings it in, Bolat completely misses it but Eduardo is penalised for a foul.
Controversy! Clichy's poor cross is shanked by Camozzato and it popped up and struck Mangala near the hand. The ref waves it away...
Bendtner pleads for a corner but he isn't getting one.
Camargo thumps one over but the flag was up.
Eboue, that was terrible. He waits for an age to cross after getting in the area, then shanks his cross behind. Truly pitiful.
Bendtner gets caught in possession when Fabregas was running in support.
Rosicky is brought down by Witsel and Arsenal take the free kick wuickly but Clichy's cross is too close to Bolat.
Dalmat nearly outwits Clichy on the right but Arsenal have a goal kick. He's not having a great time of it the left back.
Song thumps a ball out of reach of Bendtner. Rueful looks all round...
Dalmat is caught late by Clichy and the referee brandishes the game's first yellow card.
Mbokani wins a free kick in his own half, good tracing back.
Fabregas and Diaby try to combine but Carcela gets a foot in.
Excellent ball across the face of goal from Bendtner after he got to the byline, but no-one was near it to poke home.
Another miscue from Diaby who pumps another shot well, well, well wide.
Bolat is out smartly now to claim in front of Bendtner as he went for Eduardo's cross.
Fabregas' free kick sails straight into the arms of Bolat.
Diaby wins a free kick off Rocha when the break was on. Free kick 45 yards out.
There are seven Champions League debuts for Liege tonight, and they are spanking seasoned European campaigners Arsenal 2-0.
Song looks for Eduardo but Sarr shepherds the ball out of play and nearly gets cut in half by the advertising boards in the process. Eduardo helps him up, he's a lovely little fella isn't he?
Eboue fluffs an easy ball as Liege sit ten men inside their half.
Diaby slaps a shot miles wide of the target. This must be harrowing viewing for Wenger.
A spell of possession for Arsenal but they're not going anywhere with it. Loud jeers from the home fans.
The home fans are having a whale of a time here, they're cheering every touch, every throw-in and every corner...
Eboue concedes a free kick this time. None of the Arsenal players can remember how to tackle...
Mannone's kicking is very suspect early on, he slices another one under no real pressure. If I were Liege I'd be taking Lionel Richie's advice and peppering the box with crosses all night long.
Bendtner slides in and upends Carcela. Free kick, but no card. The winger gets up gingerly.
Liege break upfield after an Arsenal move falters and Dalmat's ball is a decent test for Mannone. The 'keeper claims well on the bounce.
The pattern for the game is already set, Arsenal piling men forward and Liege crowding them out on the edge of the box.
First half-chance for Arsenal and some typically slick passing offers Eduardo a shooting opportunity but Mangala blocks it.
Arsene Wenger has a right mug on, as you'd expect. Even Pat Rice dare not speak to him...
Liege can just sit in, soak up the pressure and play on the break now if they choose too. Arsenal have to make all the running.
Arsenal have stemmed the flow for now and they do have 80 minutes to rescue this tie. Don't bet against it.
Now, a quick recap. Edaurdo tries a flick on the edge of his own box and gives it straight to Mangala, whose shot flies into the corner, then Gallas' stray leg catches Jovanovic in the box and the striker slots the penalty. Breathless stuff.
Now Mannone charges out of his net to meet a long ball over the top and he shanks it straight out for a throw in. Arsenal are all over the place at the back.
Well, that was astonishing! There are only five minutes on the clock and Arsenal are two down! Poor old Vito Mannone probably wasn't expecting that.
GOAL! Jovanovic slots the pen and Arsenal have made an AWFUL start!
Jovanovic ran at him in the box and Gallas clipped him!
Penalty! Liege have a penalty!
Eduardo's flick on the edge of the box went straight to Magala and he blasted it into the net past Mannone!
GOAL! Mangala! The roof really has come off now!
The roof nearly comes off the stadium as Liege win a corner. A neat build up preceeded it too with some crisp passing down the right flank.
There's a beltinig atmosphere in the ground as the teams come out - the Belgians are going nuts with flares, flags and crazed pogo-ing. It's still not a patch on the Besiktas fans last night though - did you see them?
Jovanovic has got it sussed though: "Facing Arsenal, the solution will be to wait. Manchester City did it at the weekend."
Liege are missing star player and captain Steven Defour through injury. He'll take no part in the group stages. Much will rely on Serbia striker Milan Jovanovic, and with Arsenal in such generous mood at the back he may get the odd sniff of goal.
Now, if you don't know much about Vito Mannone, allow me to inform you. He was signed from Atalanta for £350,000 in 2005 and this will be his first competitive start. Arsene is probably banking on him not having too much to do.
Liege have had a indifferent start to their Jupiler League season, lying six points off the top in fifth. They are yet to lose this season though and drew 1-1 with big rivals Anderlecht recently.
Standard Liege: Bolat, Rocha, Dalmat, Mbokani, De Camargo, Camozzato, Sarr, Mangala, Jovanovic, Witsel and Carcela-Gonzalez.
Arsenal: Mannone, Diaby, Vermaelen, Clichy, Gallas, Song, Eboue, Fabregas, Rosicky, Bendtner and Eduardo.
After a thumping start to the season, in which Arsenal scored ten goals in two Premier League games, and swatted away the challenge of Celtic in the UCL qualifiers Arsenal have come unstuck. Their two defeats in Manchester saw them concede six. Time to get things back on track.
Good evening all and welcome to live coverage of the Champions League clash between Arsenal and Standard Liege. Kick off is at 7.45pm Hammersmith time (that's in London by the way).
Join us at 1945 BST to see if Arsenal can get back on track with a win in Belgium.
