Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, Port Elizabeth, South Africa
Referee: Alberto Undiano Mallenco
I'll be back in five minutes or so to launch our live coverage of Slovenia v USA. The gamecast is here.
Stay tuned for some post-match reaction, which is bound to be suitably poisonous as far as Germany are concerned. Next up is Slovenia v USA in Group C.
Apparently the referee handed out 11 red cards in 17 La Liga matches last season. Hmm.
Hot off the Soccernet press here is our match report.
The final whistle sounds and Serbia have claimed a famous win. A big assist must go to Senor Alberto Undiano Mallenco, but even after his ridiculous red card for Klose, Podolski still missed a penalty .
As that foul was awarded, for nothing by the way, Joachim Low slammed his bottle of water into the ground. He's going to give the ref both barrels after this, and well he might.
A melee on the edge of the box ends when the ref gives a foul to Serbia. Subotic flung himself in the way of a Khedira shot before that. Stankovic has cramp now. Not surprised, he's about 40.
This will blow Group D wide open if it stays like this. Australia will be back in with a shout if they beat Ghana. Ghana will be clear favourites to top the group if they collect another three points.
Now Lahm's cross is mishit and Stojkovic can claim. I wonder how his statue is coming on in Belgrade Square? Three minutes added...
Marin has been awful since he came on. He's just kicked the ball out of play, much to the fury of the coach Joachim Low.
What a mess from Serbia. They had four-on-four there but wasted it. No cohesion at all. Come on Germany, let's have an equaliser.
Terrible from Lazovic, as he overhits a simple ball for Kolarov who had run 45 yards up in support.
Just as I type that Zigic has a golden chance to play in Kacar but Mertesacker makes a vital block.
Germany still pouring forward. Serbia can pick them off on the counter if they play it right.
Podolski has another pop at goal but drags this one wide. It was from an angle but he has been wasteful today. Six efforts off target from him.
Vladimir Stojkovic makes a save from Podolski's penalty.
Now the referee misses a blatant booking as Kacar piles in late on Cacau. The free-kick is nodded behind by Vdiic.
Good chance for Kacar as Zigic knocks down a cross into the box. He went for a side-footed volley but it was always rising.
ESPN Stats & Info: Five of the last seven goals Serbia have conceded at the World Cup have come in the last 15 minutes of games.
Jovanovic, the goalscorer, departs and Lazovic on.
Corner for Germany as Stojkovic fumbles a regulation shot. The corner is too long and no-one gets near it.
Gomez is on for Badstuber. An attacker for a defender.
Krasic wins a free-kick and spins it into the box but Petrovic's header is high and wide.
Kuzmanovic goes off and Petrovic comes on as Serbia make their second change.
Rubbish from Kolarov after Jovanovic fed him in the box. He slices wide, horribly.
Zigic has hit the bar! Krasic delivers a great cross and the big man towers high but powers his nod against the bar. Should have scored.
That is eight players booked and one red card now, and I can't recall a bad tackle.
Schweinsteiger is the latest to be booked after banging into Kolarov.
National hero Vladimir Stojkovic punches the ball.
ESPN Stats & Info: Germany's last non-shootout penalty miss in the World Cup was by Uli Hoeness in 1974 versus Poland.
Changes galore. Ninkovic is off and Kacar is on for Serbia. For Germany, Cacau and Marin are on for Ozil and Muller.
Podolski fires in another effort but this one is wayward.
Stojkovic gets a huge ovation as he scrambles to prevent a Germany corner. His penalty save was smart but hardly taxing. There will be a monument of him up in Belgrade before the full-time whistle I'll wager.
Germany about to make a double substitution it looks like. Cacau is stripped and ready.
Serbia have hiot the post! A rare break upfield sees Krasic get into the area, feed Jovanovic, and his curling effort cannons back off the post. Great effort.
Jovanovic breaks upfield but his cross is snaffled by Neuer.
Podolski gets away from Ivanovic again but lacks numbers in the box.
Serbia need to start pushing up the field and make their extra man count. They're playing as if it is they who are down to ten men.
Can Germany recover from another setback and get back into the game? They deserve something from their second half performance.
Well that will knock extra stuffing out of Germany. Vidic dived full length and brushed Khedira's cross with his hand, in a complete rush of blood, but Podolski can't convert. Vidic was booked for his trouble too.
SAVED! Stojkovic gets Vidic out of jail by saving Podolski's weak penalty and Serbia survive!
Nemanja Vidic has handled a cross needlessly and Podolski stands over the penalty.
PENALTY TO GERMANY
Another chance for Podolski as he is found by a cute touch from Ozil but he blasts into the side-netting.
A great chance for Podolski to equalise. He gets into the left channel and collects Khedira's ball before stroking the ball just wide of the post.
Another yellow, this time for Subotic as he lunges in on Ozil. The ref probably got that one right, actually.
Now Lahm is tripped on the edge of the box but the referee denies him a free-kick. Tension rising.
ESPN Stats & Info: Jovanovic's goal for Serbia was the fifth time during the tournament that the first shot on target of the game for either team has been a goal: England (Gerrard v. USA), South Korea (Lee Jung-Soo v. Greece), South Africa (Tshabalala v. Mexico) and Paraguay (Alcaraz v. Italy) were the previous four.
Joachim Low goes nuts as Lahm pinches the ball off Ninkovic but is penalised. Its fair to say this ref is not welcome in Germany any time soon.
Ooh, that must have hurt. Schweinsteiger forces Stojkovic into a save before Khedira volleys Kolarov in the head. He's up already though. Hard as nails.
Lahm's slide rule pass finds Schweinsteiger but Vidic's tackle is a good one. There's plenty of life in this German side yet.
Milan Jovanovic celebrates his goal.
Kuzmanovic picks out the right pass but overhits it as Krasic scampered down the right flank.
Stankovic knocks a quality ball through for Ninkovic but Lahm was wide awake and knocked it back to Neuer.
So, how should Serbia play this? Push forward and look for a second to kill off the Germans or sit back and hit them on the break?
Ozil has taken the lone striker's role for Germany, with Podolski and Muller in support.
First opening of the half to Germany as Podolski smashes a shot across the face of goal from a tight angle.
We begin again...
Milan Jovanovic scores for Serbia.
And after that, England take on Algeria in Cape Town. Here's our preview for that one.
Next up, at 2pm, is the clash between the USA and Slovenia. Have a read of our preview here.
Well, an entertaining half that was overshadowed by a truly shocking red card for Miroslav Klose. Two innocuouos fouls and he gets his marching orders. The first was an inadvertent clip, the second when he tried to poke the ball away from Stankovic.
Khedira has hit the bar! The corner fell to him and he's whacked it off the crossbar, then Muller's overhead kick is cleared off the line. The ref has blown for a foul for the overhead kick. Sums up his half, which comes to a close now.
Muller does really well to win a corner after some trickery in the box. One minute added...
Pathetic from Stojkovic, as Schweinsteiger gives him a little bump. The 'keeper goes down looking to get his opponent booked but thankfully the referee keeps his cards in his pocket for once.
ESPN Stats & Info: Germany's last red card at the World Cup was in 2002 against Cameroon in the group stage when Carsten Ramelow was sent off.
Great work from Podolski. Seconds after driving in a shot on the edge of the box he is back in his own half pinching the ball off Krasic.
Muller wins a corner for shellshocked Germany.
Germany are ragged here. That red card has rocked them. Zigic did well to meet Krasic's cross and Jovanovic was cool under pressure.
How things can turn. Germany were looking in no trouble at all, then their star striker is sent off for nothing and within two minutes they go behind.
Serbia score! Zigic knocks down a cross and Jovanovic volleys home from five yards. Then he jumps into the crowd to celebrate. Joy unconfined
Referee Alberto Undiano Mallenco from Spain, is a joke. That was absolutely pathetic. He's ruined the game with those ridiculous bookings.
Klose has been sent off, for the two most innocuous fouls you will ever see. Pathetic refereeing. Just awful, awful, awful.
Danger in Serbia's box as Klose nods down Muller's cross but Subotic hacks away. Pressure still on....
Great defending from Vidic who gets a foot in as Klose tried to turn in the area.
Kolarov beat the wall with his effort but it was two yards wide of the near post. Not a bad effort.
Lahm gets a deserved booking after hacking down Krasic. Zigic won the header and Krasic was first to the loose ball. Free-kick, 25 yards out.
A poor five minutes for Muller continues with his toe-poked pass to Klose which is about 20 yards too strong. The boy's got kryptonite in his boots by the looks of it.
Then Klose turns the ball into the net but he was offside from Khedira's knock. Just about right too.
Nearly a nice ball from Schweinsteiger but Vidic cuts it out.
Deja vu. Muller's Mullered another cross right out of play on the opposite side. Not even three Zigic's on top of each other could have reached that one.
Great crossing opportunity for Muller but he's absolutely Mullered it over everyone's head. Muller by name, Muller by nature.
Germany's Miroslav Klose in action.
A long ball from Kolarov is too strong for Krasic and he can't keep it in play.
A cracking run from Ninkovic is ruined when Zigic can't return the ball. Poor.
ESPN Stats & Info: Germany have conceded seven goals in their last three World Cup matches against teams from the Balkans (1-2 vs Bulgaria in 1994, 2-2 vs Yugoslavia and 0-3 vs Croatia in 1998).
Bastian Schweinsteiger battles for the ball.
Now Khedira is carded for a tug on Krasic. This game is going to end with seven players against seven at this rate. Poor refereeing.
Subotic heads away at the near post as Ozil delivers.
A good spell for Serbia but Germany win a corner now as Ivanovic nods behind.
The referee is going card crazy here. Now Kolarov is booked for sliding in on Muller.
. Nice turn from Kuzmanovic who weaves his way to the edge of the area but he can't find Jovanovic. Then Ivanovic brings down Podolski and is carded. Very soft
Klose is a yard offside as Muller looked for him over the top. Very nearly.
Jovanovic clips one deep but Vidic can't get a head on it. Bit of a waste in truth.
Good link-up between Ivanovic and Krasic and the latter draws a foul from Badstuber. Free-kick wide on the right. Aim for Zigic is my advice. He's massive.
ESPN Stats & Info: Serbia have lost all four of their matches at the World Cup to date.
Klose is invloved positively now as he looks to link with Ozil. The referee awards a goal kick and is proved right by the replay.
Klose has been booked for a clip on Ivanovic. That is half for that challenge and half for the one about five minutes ago. Clumsy.
First half chance for Serbia as Krasic gets one-on-one with Badstuber. He crosses to the back stick where Ninkovic blazes over on the volley. Better.
Vidic does well as Podolski charges forward. The white shirts are getting plenty of time to pick out a pass.
Germany are enjoying plenty of unchecked possession in the middle of the park. You fear for Serbia unless they get tighter and close down quicker.
Klose is clumsy and late on Ivanovic and concedes a free-kick.
A rasping volley from Podolski flashes just wide of the post after a really good German break. He caught it flush but it was always spinning away from goal.
Lahm looks for Ozil but the Germany captain overhits the ball. Both teams are set up to attack here which is promising.
Good challenge from Subotic as Muller tries to cross from the right flank.
Ozil the architect again with a great chipped ball into the box but Khedira's volley is off target.
Such a good stat we produced it twice.
ESPN Stats & Info: Following his goal against Australia, Germany's Miroslav Klose (11 goals) is now only four behind Ronaldo's all-time record of 15 World Cup goals.
An early ball into Germany's box but Zigic's header is weak and Neuer claims. Then Kuzmanovic tries a shot from range but it dribbles wide.
The teams are out into beautiful sunshine in Port Elizabeth, Its about 19 degrees and we're currently enjoying the Serbian national anthem.
As for Germany, Miroslav Klose is now just four goals behind the World Cup's all-time leading scorer, Ronaldo. He should have a good few more opportunities in this game I'll wager.
I'm looking forward to seeing Krasic and Kuzmanovic for Serbia. In my most recent Football Manager game, Kuzmanovic is the boss in my Champions League winning Newcastle side. Hey, we can all dream can't we?
Why not have a look at Germany legend Jurgen Klinsmann chatting about that 4-0 win over Australia while we wait for kick-off?
Serbia suffered a disappointing defeat at the hands of Ghana in their opening game, and really need a win here. They make three changes: Lukovic, Pantelic and Milijas go out, Subotic in, Kuzmanovic and Ninkovic come in.
Unsurprisingly, Joachim Low sends out the same eleven players that made Australia look like a bunch of staggering drunks in their opening game. The main man in that game was Mesut Ozil, and he'll be the focal point again today.
Good afternoon all and welcome along to live coverage of Germany's game with Serbia from Group D. Can the Germans continue their excellent form from the first game, when they thumped Australia 4-0?
Join us at 1130 GMT as Germany look to continue their good start against Serbia.
Nemanja Vidic says there is nothing to fear from Germany, but then what does he fear?
