A great result for Milan. Classic European defending and Maldini was a rock at the back. Adebayor was closest to finding the breakthrough, but it wasn't to be. See you in two weeks time...
Oh what a chance. That was the one, as Adebayor hit the bar from inside the six yard box!
Walcott bursts down the right. Great ball in and Adebayor hits the bar!!!!
One last chance.
It's been a tough game for the Gunners and the return leg at the San Siro will be even tougher. Arsenal have failed to take their chances and may live to regret it.
Milan solid at the back and Arsenal look out of ideas.
Oddo has to get his head on the ball at the back post. Fabregas with the corner and Flamini was close. Walcott struck the volley and Gallas nearly gets a touch! Zalac is there though.
Hleb stumbles and Fabregas gives the ball away. Milan are happy with the draw and are all behind the ball.
Very little time for the Englishman to do anything though. Pirlo has another go, evidently he's trying to waste as much time as possible.
Walcott comes on for Eboue.
Eboue latches on to an Adebayor header. He should have found Hleb, who overruns it. Back to Bendtner, and he blasts it well over.
Pirlo might have a crack from here? It's a very long way out, but he does. Terrible though. The would have struggled to go in even without a keeper.
Sagna swings the ball in, but is unable to find an Arsenal head. Milan holding strong and still look dangerous on the counter.
Lehmann does well to save from the corner there! He's had very little to do.
Seedorf comes off for Emerson.
Flamini is climbing all over Gattuso.
Clichy controls the ball perfectly under pressure, but his ball forward finds Adebayor up against Maldini.
Bendtner with the ball in. Adebayor is unable to get there. Now Hleb swings it and Bendtner can't get there. What pressure. Milan really on the back foot.
Zalac is being worked here! Another shot fired in. Regulation save though from Fabregas. At least they're shooting on goal.
Arsenal having to defend, but now they can break. Adebayor manages to get a shot off as the ball drops. He could have really made a difference there, but didn't quite catch the shot as he would have liked.
Kaka turns his man at the other end. Great sliding tackle from Senderos!
Eboue is booked for diving. He pushed the ball past Jankulovski, but he's an absolute disgrace! Rightly booked.
Barca's comeback is complete and it's Messi again!
Bendtner again lacks the control in the danger zone. He gives it away and Clichy is furious with the ref for pulling him back.
Good build up play from Arsenal. Fabregas spreads it wide and Eboue gets the cross in. Well held by Kalac after the ball was deflected.
Pato hasn't set the world alight, but he's shown enough to suggest he's a good prospect for the future!
Pato is down with cramp and Gilardino is on for him.
Bendtner saw a gap open up and went for it. He didn't have enough strength to overcome Maldini though. The Italian has been awesome.
It's heading into the last fifteen and Arsenal need a goal more than Milan. Liverpool managed it yesterday, can the Gunners?
Fabregas strikes a shot! Well saved by Zalac and he does well to hold on to the rebound as Bendtner was closing in.
Bendtner is coming on for Eduardo. The Croatian hasn't been as sharp as he could have been and the Danish youngster will now form a partnership with Adebayor.
Kaka again on the ball, now he's the one getting more of the ball. The ball reaches Pirlo who loses out. Three Milan players close down Adebayor and he tries to turn!
Another ball over the top is wasted by Oddo.
What a scramble! Pato went through and Senderos and Gallas got themselves in the way. The ball nearly broke for Kaka, but the risk was cleared.
Senderos is going into the book. He trod on the back of Kaka's ankle as he broke.
After a frenetic first fifteen, things have calmed down a little now.
Pato struggling up front. The youngster gets his legs in a tangle, and Sagna goes down with an injury.
Now Milan calm things down again. Seedorf and Pirlo are masters. Eboue spots a gap, but Gattuso closes it quickly.
Arsenal need to make this pressure count. Fabregas with the ball to Clichy, but Maldini is there again.
Maldini, at 39, still looks like a world class defender. Kaka up the other end is always dangerous and his reverse pass almost snakes through to find Pato.
Driven in early towards Adeabyor! Maldini gets his foot on the ball there to prevent him taking it down. Went unnoticed by the ref though. Fabregas was the one with the ball again.
Oddo does well up the other end to get his body across Adebayor and cut the chance out.
Kaka bursting forward. Flamini at his heels. The ball breaks across to Oddo and Senderos backs off. Lucky for him that Oddo blasts it well wide.
Zalac comes crashing out of his goal to stop a Fabregas pass. The ball runs free and Adebayor tries to chase it down. Such class from Pirlo who turns on the edge of his own box to pass the ball clear.
Hleb is unlucky as the ball hits him on the heel. Adebayor again guilty from the pass.
Hleb fouls Jankulovski. And Milan are now passing the ball around with more authority.
Kaka and Pato desperately trying to link up. Lehmann is there though.
Milan are just trying to weather the storm at the moment. The Gunners' crowd is loud. Their team is dominating and surely the deadlock will be broken soon!
Eboue skips past a few challenges. There's a shooting chance, but they choose to pass instead. Fabregas to Flamini, and the chance is gone!
Fabregas is purring! What a ball forward to Adebayor. He is seeing a lot of the ball and the Gunners look very dangerous as long as he is pulling the strings.
Pirlo slips, And Fabregas finds Eduardo. He cuts it back onto his left foot. Kalac gets his fingertips to the ball to push it over, but the ref didn't see it and gives a goalkick.
Amid all the action, Barca seem to have scored as well so it's 2-2 there!
Hard to keep up with this action. It's all happening. What a start to the second half!
And Arsenal close again! Fabregas floats it in to Adebayor, who brings it down. Kalac JUST gets there in time.
Benzema has it in for Lyon 1-0!
Adebayor has the ball in the net! But he's offside! Great skill on the edge of the box from the Arsenal midfield. Silky passing, but the Togo man was just off!
What a break from Arsenal. Hleb does so well and sends the ball back to the advancing Eboue. Wrong man to hit it to though and he scuffs his shot just wide. Arsenal look dangerous.
Senderos is nearly caught out by Kaka. He showed good strength and somehow managed to hook in the cross. Great stuff, but no-one was there to capitalise.
Pato shows some inexperience in running the line again. He hasn't quite figured out the offside trap yet.
Kalac shows how to do it properly with the second corner. A commanding catch. Milan will be glad his first mistake didn't punish them!
Great cross from Fabregas. It hit Kaka as Kalac failed to do anything. Just past the post.
Oddo gets angry at the award, while Nesta hits the deck. Toure went off early for Arsenal, now Nesta seems like he's off too. Jankulovski coming on.
Milan have picked up the pace in the first few minutes of this half. But now the Gunners break, Adebayor gives it to Eboue who is so one footed he forced a corner.
Gallas and Lehmann get a little confused. Maldini knocks the ball out having seen Eboue was down, what a player, what a man.
Toure apparently has a calf injury, although he seemed to get hit by the ball. Let's hope for a few goals in this half, just like Celtic!
And we're off for the second half.
End of the half. Tight stuff. Hopefully it'll be more open in the second half.
Last chance for the Gunners. Fabregas gives it away at the vital moment and Maldini loses the ball.
Good end to the half here. Arsenal pushing for a goal that would really hurt Milan with two minutes to go.
Flamini does so well to get past Oddo. Hits the cross and it's blocked by Kalac. The ball rebounds and is it a pen? No. Pirlo and Flamini clashed, but the ref didn't blow.
Fabregas now strikes a shot against Maldini. Adeabyor really will regret that one, such a good opportunity.
Ambrosini does well to clear, but Flamini is spurring Arsenal on again. Adebayor with a great chance to slip Fabregas in... He overhits it though! Great chance.
Both sides looking for half-time now. Tired legs as neither team has managed to break the other down.
Celtic grab another goal! Great stuff in Scotland.
Adebayor is called for a foul on Kaladze as he looked to get free.
Kaladze does enough to keep Adebayor away from the goal. A subtle jump, but enough to put off the giant Togo striker.
Up the other end already, Pato is held off by Senderos and Flamini does really well to get his foot in on Kaka.
Arsenal's best move of the game. Shame about the shot.
Seedorf gets a vital foot in there to deny an Arsenal break. Great passing though and Eboue gets free on the right. Wonderful move, Eboue to Hleb and the shot is saved by Kalac.
Maldini really is a class act. Confident and assured, he held off Hleb. Dangerous though, Arsenal now have a freekick. Fabregas knocks it across. Eduardo was totally free, but it was too high for the little Croatian. If that had been Adebayor, it would have been a goal.
Pato is going into the book now. He pushed Sagna as he was chasing the ball down. Sagna went crashing into Lehmann, who screams at the youngster. Harsh, but he gets a yellow.
Eboue breaks and Sagna swings the ball in. Adebayor again tries to get on the end of it, but it's cleared. Nesta has done well so far to repel the threat of the Togo striker.
Still no breakthrough for either side. The midfielders are really getting a workout.
The chunky Italian is now off the pitch and waiting to come back on.
Wonderful tackle again by Fabregas as he slides in on Pato to win the ball back. Now he's back attacking and trying to release Hleb. Gattuso goes down with an ankle injury.
Kaka getting much more involved now, Fabregas puts in a challenge on the edge of the box to stop the Brazilian playmaker progressing.
Again, Milan's long ball tactics are falling far from the head of Pato. They really need to get it on the deck if they're going to cause problems.
Fabregas is dumped on his backside by Kaka. You don't see that very often!
Another long ball up towards Pato is headed away. He's not the tallest, so that seems an odd tactic. Adebayor is a different prospect, he latches onto one from Fabregas, has a chance to shoot but skews it wide.
Milan being pegged back into their own half. Being the away side, this could be a running theme. I expected to see them attacking more, but they seem content.
Eduardo free on the left. He runs at Oddo, but really can't do anything with it. Eventually it falls to Gallas who has a pop from 35 yards. Very hopeful, and not anywhere near the goal.
Great skill from the Croatian Eduardo. Gattuso does what he does best and makes the tackle, albeit a foul one.
Great attacking game so far. Lehmann is the only keeper to have made a save, but you can see both these sides have the potential to score.
Senderos nails Seedorf and he was lucky to get away without a yellow. Adebayor is one on one with Nesta, but the Italian is pure class and shepherds the ball out for a corner. Eduardo's ball in was a good one, but comes to nothing.
And it didn't last. Messi has hit back for Barca! 1-1.
Adebayor and Hleb on the break. Adebayor tries to find Eboue, but his ball is knocked out for a corner.
The game has gone a bit dead now. Both sides cancelling each other out... but here come Arsenal.
Celtic have gone one up against Barcelona, what a shock!
Arsenal slightly on top after the first fifteen. Adebayor again proving to be their best hope of breaking down the Milan defence.
Pirlo with a dreadful ball over the top. Far too long, and the Italian is much better than that.
Fabregas does well to get a foot in on Pirlo's ball, but Adebayor overruns it. Milan have it back again and neither side are really making inroads into the box as yet.
Kaka with an excellent reverse ball sends Pato running at the defence. Gallas is backing off, but Pato is outnumbered. The youngster showed some good skills there, but couldn't break through.
Sagna with a great cross. Too high for Adebayor, but Eduardo could have done better with his attempt to get the ball.
Swung in by Eduardo. Senderos was free, but the ball couldn't get there and Milan clear well. Arsenal are controlling the ball well, constantly moving and holding the Milan players off. Pirlo is forced into losing the ball and the Gunners break.
Hleb has moved inside and Eduardo is playing more like a left-winger. Maldini shows his class with a great tackle on Eboue to concede a corner.
Gunners seem to be controlling possession at the moment. Milan are sitting back and Pato is struggling to get into the game.
Adebayor does really well to knock the ball down to Eboue. The Ivorian swings in the cross and Adebayor takes to the skies, Nesta just gets there to block him out of a clean header. That was Arsenal's best chance so far.
Pirlo is oozing class in the middle of the park for Milan. Arsenal look settled, but that injury to Toure will upset them at the back.
Adebayor now tried an overhead kick and catches Kaladze clean in the face. Senderos is on to take over from the injured Toure.
Great corner there from Seedorf. Lehmann is forced into a save, he grabs the ball back and HURLS it over the halfway line to Adebayor. He's muscled out of it though. What a throw that was!
Gallas and Toure holding firm against the Brazilian youngster Pato. His shot bounces off Toure and the defender goes down in pain. It doesn't look good and he's hopping around like mad.
Hleb should have done better with a ball to Eboue, the Ivorian had an opening but the ball was hit too long.
Eboue bursts down the right side, but Nesta comes across. So much experience in the Milan lineup.
A long ball by Oddo looks dangerous for a second, but the debutant Pato is caught offside. Gallas is there again as Milan surge forward, Seedorf's ball forward is well cut out by the Frenchman.
Milan get the ball under control, but play it long and lose out to Gallas.
Seedorf already chasing down hard, but the ball skims off the wet surface and out for a goalkick.
Referee Larsen blows the whistle, and Milan kick off.
Players are shaking hands now, and we're almost ready for the off. So much expectation, I just hope it lives up to its billing.
Milan are led out by the 39-year-old Maldini. He actually played back in '94, the last time these two teams met. This is Arsenal's 100th UCL game.
The pitch looks in great condition, as usual, and I'm reliably informed there's a great selection of talent in the press box as well.
The only European encounters between Arsenal and AC Milan came in the two legs of the 1994 Uefa Super Cup 13 years ago. Milan won 2-0 at the San Siro, but that won't count for much. Arsenal's home record is great - they've only lost once, to West Ham.
So many questions! Can Arsenal come back from their defeat against United last week? Can Milan's ageing defence hold firm? Will Pato shine? We'll find out in just under two hours time...
Of course all eyes will be on Fabregas for Arsenal and Kaka for Milan, pulling the strings in midfield. This should be a belter!
Pirlo, Gattuso, Kaka, Seedorf and Ambrosini are the men in midfield. Exciting youngster Alexandre Pato is up front on his own, but he's more than capable of springing a surprise.
Milan have Kalac in goal, broken finger and all. Oddo, Nesta, Maldini and Kaladze make up an ageing defence.
For Arsenal, Lehmann is back in goal. With a solid back four of Sagna, Toure, Gallas and Clichy.
