All over in Cologne and England can breathe a sigh of relief.
England top the group and face Ecuador next, but they still can't beat Sweden. Joe Cole, with a beauty, and Gerrard for England, but the Swedes came back twice and fully merited their point, if not more.
Three added minutes, by the way.
Gerrard belts the ball, aiming for Row Z. He might have found it, too.
Daniel Andersson comes on for the excellent Linderoth in midfield.
Not a difficult finish for the veteran, but the unfortunate Robinson had no chance. Don't write off Sweden - they are level again.
Diabolical defending by England who committed the cardinal sin of letting the long throw bounce.
GOAL - Edman's long throw is turned in by Larsson
But the pressure continues. Wilhelmsson delivers yet again and Terry heads clear. Then - guess what? - another cross and Carragher gets it away.
Now it's Kallstrom from teh right. Now Lampard is the man to head away. Wilhelmsson crosses and Carragher clears.
Linderoth will take again. Terry wins a vital header with Mellberg closing in.
Kallstrom's ball over the top finds Wilhelmsson, whose cross is blocked. Corner.
Cole goes to clear and is caught by Ljungberg, who becomes the latest name in the book.
Kallstrom to take from the right flank. He only finds the head of Frank Lampard.
A deep cross from Kallstrom and Ashley Cole has to concede a corner.
The substitute has made the difference and England, now, are on the brink of an undeserved win.
GOAL - Joe Cole finds room, chips to the back post and Steven Gerrard heads in.
Lampard gives the ball away in midfield which hardly helps England's cause.
Really poor tackle on Joe Cole by Alexandersson. Booking and he can't argue with that.
Dismal free kick from Beckham, sailing miles over goal
A nervy final 10 minutes await England
Edman lines up the free kick and Lampard gets it away at the second attempt.
Hargreaves, who has to be careful, pushes Ljungberg over.
Wilhelmsson has a little treatment but carries on.
Beckham takes, Crouch meets but Isaksson holds his header comfortably.
Then Gerrard looks for Beckham and Edman has to be alert. Another corner.
England try to take the sting out of the game by knocking the ball around the back four.
Linderoth, who has caused problems with his set-piece delivery, is across to but he leaves it for Edman. Two defenders jump, and they both miss it, but England clear.
And Hargreaves enters the book for a handball as he acted to stop Elmander going through.
Elmander for Allback looks a straight swap so Sweden still have two up front to England's one.
But it is met by Edman, with a certain inevitability.
Beckham, meanwhile, has won a free kick from Edman in one of the game's duels. The captain will take himself.
Now a Swedish swap. The goalscorer Allback departs and Elmander comes on.
Still 1-0 in the other game, so Paraguay will finish third in the group and T&T fourth as it stands.
He goes deep, Joe Cole retrieves and his cross is too deep as well.
But now Beckham has a corner to taken after Edman headed behind.
England, now, can count themselves fortunate to be level. Gerrard came on to shore up the midfield and ended up clearing off his own line.
Linderoth goes deep, Mellberg heads down to Kallstrom who strikes his half-volley really well... and Steven Gerrard clears off the line.
Larsson beats the offside trap and wins a corner. They, it appears, are going for the win.
Well, England's attitude is clear. They want the draw. But what about Sweden?
It's 4-1-4-1 for England now, with Crouch alone in attack.
Now England do make the swap. Rooney, who has tired in the second half, goes off and Eriksson has been forced to gamble on Gerrard.
Meanwhile the Coles advance in tandem. Lampard then finds Rooney, but his chip evades Crouch.
England were about to make a change, but have delayed.
A very tough 20 minutes for England and word comes in that Gerrard is warming up - is it worth the gamble, given that a booking would rule him out of their next game?
But now they have a corner which Beckham drills in. Crouch meets it with a firm header that drops over the bar.
And England squander possession in such a way they go straight back to Robinson.
A sign of Swedish confidence that Allback is closing down Carragher near his own corner flag. No one is sitting off them now.
And once again, England appear to be panicking. The positives from the first half are being rivalled by the negatives in the second.
But then Wilhelmsson comes forward, picks out Larsson and Campbell makes a fantastic block from the striker's shot.
And Crouch has come very deep as England just enjoy some respite by being on the ball.
Larsson finds Ljungberg who tries to run in on goal from the half-way line. It's ambitious and Robinson tidies up.
And England must be worried now that they will lose this game and face Germany in Munich.
Yet more proof that the Swedes have got England's number at set-pieces now.
Linderoth takes, Lucic heads down and unmarked Mellberg hooks his shot just wide.
Beckham charges down Edman's cross and the Swedes have another corner.
Crouch just gets his direction wrong on a little lay-off which he intended to go to Rooney.
Crouch goes forward, Ashley Cole whips in a cross and Isaksson's handling is safe.
And now an England charge - Ferdinand limps off and Sol Campbell is the replacement.
The Swedes, meanwhile, think Larsson's header hit an arm en route to the bar.
Kallstrom takes and to England's relief, Lampard heads away.
And these Swedish corners are causing England a problem - and now they have another.
Kallstrom takes the corner, this time it is Larsson with the angled header and it rebounds back off the bar.
Now the change is made, Jonson going off for the winger Wilhelmsson.
Larsson is well tackled by Ferdinand at the other end, but it's another corner.
Joe Cole squeezes in a cross which Lucic does really well to clear. Then Lampard supplies Crouch who slips as he shoots and it's tame.
Reassurance for the Swedes, who were already in second place. A win here today would put them on top of the group.
Sweden are waiting to bring on Wilhelmsson.
And Sweden, who just never lose to England, are level again.
A terrific header at the near post. He got in front of Beckham and even the jumping Ashley Cole at the back psot couldn't keep it out.
GOAL - Allback heads in Linderoth's corner.
Now Ljungberg jockeys inside Carragher, fires a low shot and Terry gets back well to prod it wide.
Ljungberg and Larsson combine at the other end, but England are back in numbers. Carragher charges down one cross, but Sweden still have the ball.
Beckham goes deep but Rooney miscues his volley.
Then Lampard goes wide to Cole, whose cross is aimed at Crouch but headed away by Lucic. Cole crosses again and it is a corner.
Rooney with room to turn. He links up with Crouch, gets in back and England turn infield.
Lampard picks out Joe Cole wide on the left, he rolls it back to his namesake, and then on to Hargreaves, whose shot is blocked.
An early interception by Terry, who made it look easy. No changes on either side, by the way.
England get the second half going.
Half-time and England lead courtesy of Joe Cole's terrific goal. No Michael Owen, who was injured, but a good half for England.
Lampard and Cole play a one-two, Lampard goes for a chip and Isaksson deals with it comfortably.
Rooney passes wide to Joe Cole, who twists, turns, aims for Rooney and eventually is denied by Lucic.
One added minute in this first half, largely for the injury to Owen.
Hargreaves concedes a free kick in England's half, but then Larsson is penalised for backing in to Terry.
Beckham, predcitably, takes. Terry gets his head on it, but can't apply direction. Then Cole crosses, Isaksson punches, Beckham crosses from the opposite flank and finally Rooney fires a shot over the bar.
Rooney collects Crouch's flick-on, juggles the ball over one and Alexandersson comes across to cover. Corner.
It must be a relief for the Swedes that the result in their game is going their way. No need to panic for them, therefore.
Crouch skips away from Linderoth, goes for the one-two with Rooney and Mellberg just intercepts.
Now Lampard goes for goal from distance and that is the best of his many shots this World Cup - dipping and not far over.
Larsson goes for the cross, but he can only pick out Paul Robinson.
And at the other end, a really good tackle by Ferdinand on Ljungberg.
Hargreaves slides a pass to Joe Cole and the sliding Alexandersson makes a fine tackle.
Well, a rarity for England - the lead against Sweden. How will they deal with it?
Now the irrepressible Cole crosses, but too deep for Peter Crouch.
And now England are content to knock the ball around in their own half.
Back come Sweden with Larsson heading the ball down for Jonson, but his miscued shot doesn't trouble Robinson.
It came after a move instigated by Carragher on the right, but all the credit has to go to Cole.
Wonderful right-footed shot from 25 yards. Alexandersson headed away to him outside the box, he chested it down and hit a dipping half-volley,
GREAT GOAL! It's Joe Cole to give England the lead.
It's headed away at the near post, and both sides are defending solidly.
Now Joe Cole is penalised near the touchline and Kallstrom has a chance to whip a cross in.
Kallstrom tries to line up a shot, but Beckham gets a foot in.
Good play by Joe Cole again, curling in a cross that Crouch heads down, but Linderoth collects the second ball.
Now an injury worry for Sweden, with Ljungberg down after a clash with Carragher. He hobbles around gingerly but then continues.
Mazy run from Joe Cole. He finds Rooney, who drills a shot against the shins of Lucic.
The corner is aimed at Terry, but again the Swedes defend the set-piece well.
But then Joe Cole is fouled on the left. Beckham comes across to take the free kick, goes for goal and Isaksson punches away.
Ashley Cole's cross is just too long for Rooney. He has the chance to cross again and it is blocked.
And in the other game in Group B, Paraguay have taken the lead. Great news for Sweden.
Lucic, at the near post, gets the corner away.
Beckham finds Rooney who beats Mellberg with ease, shoots... and Lucic makes a valuable block.
Joe Cole can cross and he does well to find Crouch, leaping unopposed, but his header is poor, neither at goal nor for a team-mate. Still, it comes back to Hargreaves, whose shot is blocked.
A set-piece for Beckham. The two centre backs are up for it. He takes, but Kallstrom heads away.
The Coles combine at pace and Jonson brings down the marauding Ashley.
Anyway, Kallstrom comes across to take - and like his corner, it is too deep and sails out for a goal kick.
Allback comes forward for Sweden, Jonson crosses low but the whistle goes for a handball on the edge of the box. Ashley Cole, the presumed culprit, is bemused
Joe Cole weaves his way infield. His first shot is blocked, but it rebounds to him for a clean strike from 20 yards, which goes just over.
Rooney's cross is turned away by Alexandersson.
Now it's the left-footed Kallstrom. He goes deep, but too deep for everyone.
Which Linderoth takes. He finds an unnmarked Lucic at the back post, he volleys and it strikes Lampard. Corner.
Mellberg crosses deep and, with Larsson behind him, Carragher has to concede the corner.
Sliced clearance from Terry goes off for a throw.
Linderoth curls it in, Robinson punches under pressure and eventually Ferdinand clears.
This time Hargreaves gets the tackle in, but it is a corner for the Swedes.
At the other end Ljungberg runs at Carragher and gets little joy, though he does earn a throw.
Joe Cole finds room to cross on the left. Crouch leaps highest, but not high enough to make contact.
Interesting to see Rooney again the furthest forward with Crouch dropping deeper to link up.
Jonson crosses deep, Kallstrom comes in at far post, jumps highest and heads wide.
As it stands, it is 0-0 in the other game in the group, which suits Sweden, who will qualify if T&T don't win.
More bright play from Joe Cole, robbing Alexandersson. He and Rooney have provided England's causes for optimism.
Rooney himself retrieves, crosses and Lampard, forward again, heads wide.
Rooney goes for a first-time shot and Mellberg blocks.
Beckham picks out Crouch, who moves it on to Joe Cole, and that is better build-up from England, even if it comes to nothing.
Joe Cole again skips away from a marker and slips the pass through to Rooney who, perhaps wrongly, is given offside.
Late tackle from Linderoth on Joe Cole after the England man skipped away from the Swede.
Rooney shows strength and skill to turn away from Mellberg, but he can't link up with Crouch.
Nice flick from Larsson to Jonson. Kallstrom has a shot, it is blocked and he commits a foul as he goes for the follow-up.
Lampard comes forward again and has a second shot, this one drilled low at Isaksson from 20 yards. The keeper holds on.
Lampard spreads play to Beckham right on the touchline, but he can't keep it in.
Linderoth takes and Crouch's first touch is to clear at the near post.
Jonson crosses towards Ljungberg at the back post. Carragher defends solidly and concedes the corner.
At the back post Ashley Cole volleys away Ljungberg's cross.
Crouch replaces Owen, and his World Cup could already be over.
On the pitch, Carragher tidies up nicely after a Ferdinand pass sells him a little short.
Owen, meanwhile, is being put on to a stretcher, and that hardly suggests he's likely to return
But on the pitch, Rooney sets up birthday boy Frank Lampard for his first shot - from 25 yards it sails wide.
No challenge from a Swede on Owen there - it looked a freak injury
An early concern for England - Michael Owen appears to have crawled off in agony. He went down really awkwardly while passing the ball.
No shock to see both teams surrender possession easily in the first minute.
Sweden get us underway in Cologne.
England haven't beaten Sweden since 1968, despite appointing a Swedish manager.
England know that a win or a draw will mean they top the group and thus face Ecuador in the last 16. Sweden, meanwhile, need a point to be sure of qualifying.
The teams are in - Rooney and Hargreaves replace Crouch and Gerrard, each on a yellow card. Ibrahimovic is on the bench for Sweden.
