Galatasaray appoint Igor Tudor to succeed Jan Olde Riekerink

Galatasaray have appointed former Croatia and Juventus defender Igor Tudor as their new manager.

The 38-year-old was already working in the Turkish Super Lig as head coach of Karabukspor and a statement published on Galatasaray's official website said that compensation has been agreed.

Tudor, who has also managed his hometown club Hadjuk Split and PAOK Salonika, has been placed in charge of the Istanbul outfit until the end of the 2017-18 season.

He succeeds Jan Olde Riekerink, the Dutchman who departed the Turk Telekom Arena on Tuesday with the team languishing five points behind league leaders and city rivals Besiktas in third.

Appointed in March 2016, Riekerink led Galatasaray to the Turkish Cup but failed to gain the results needed in the league.
