Didier Deschamps has said Kylian Mbappe has "a similar profile" to Thierry Henry after handing the Monaco striker a first senior call-up to the France squad.
The day after helping knock Manchester City out of the Champions League, Mbappe, 18, was named in Deschamps' 24-man selection for France's 2018 World Cup qualifier with Luxembourg and friendly against Spain later this month.
The teenager, who found the net in Monaco's 3-1 second-leg win over City, has already drawn comparisons to Henry, and Deschamps said he can see parallels.
"I don't like to compare players from different generations, but they do have a similar profile," said Deschamps, who won the 1998 World Cup and Euro 2000 alongside Henry. "Both of them have that quality of pace, the ability to beat their man.
"Thierry has had a great career. I hope, I wish for Kylian to have the same.
"I got to know Thierry Henry when he was very young, but he was already very mature, like Kylian. That means he has the clear-headedness to make choices, especially his calmness in one-on-ones with the goalkeeper. At a young age like that, that's very rare and it's why he is so clinical."
Mbappe, who only made his Ligue 1 debut last season, has 10 goals in as many top-flight starts for the French league leaders, who have three other players -- Thomas Lemar, Benjamin Mendy and Djibril Sidibe -- also in the squad.
"They have always been a side that brings through young players," Deschamps told media at French Football Federation headquarters in Paris after unveiling the squad.
"They're players who are playing very well with their club, who are improving. The majority have played for the under-21 side. They're players who are continuing their progress."

Paul Pogba was named to the squad, but Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho ruled him out of international duty after the midfielder picked up an injury in Thursday's Europa League game.
There was no place in the squad for either Karim Benzema of Real Madrid nor Lyon's Alexandre Lacazette.
Benzema has not been picked for his country since becoming embroiled in a police investigation into the alleged attempted extortion of his France team-mate Mathieu Valbuena.
Lacazette's tally of 22 Ligue 1 goals this season has only been bettered by Paris Saint-Germain's Edinson Cavani, yet Deschamps chose to ignore him, selecting Atletico Madrid pair Antoine Griezmann and Kevin Gameiro, and Arsenal's Olivier Giroud instead.
"I make choices, I assume them," Deschamps said. "There are certain players that could have been selected, but those that are deserve to be there too. There are a lot of attacking players and I have to choose."
