Suarez starts against England

Luis Suarez will start for Uruguay in their crunch Group D clash with England on Thursday, the Uruguayan FA (AUF) has confirmed.

Suarez had to undergo surgery on his knee last month and he was left on the bench for Saturday's 3-1 defeat to Costa Rica.

Uruguay boss Oscar Tabarez had warned that the Liverpool striker would not be 100 percent fit if he did line up against England but he has been included in place of Diego Forlan, playing alongside Edinson Cavani in attack.

Uruguay had already announced that captain Diego Lugano would miss the game through injury, while Maxi Pereira is suspended.

England, meanwhile, have named an unchanged team following the 2-1 defeat to Italy in their opening match. Wayne Rooney is expected to play in the No. 10 role with Danny Welbeck and Raheem Sterling on the flanks.

Uruguay starting XI: Fernando Muslera, Martin Caceres, Jose María Gimenez, Diego Godin (c), Alvaro Pereira, Alvaro Gonzalez, Egidio Arevalo, Nicolas Lodeiro, Cristian Rodriguez, Edinson Cavani, Luis Suarez.

England starting XI: Joe Hart, Glen Johnson, Gary Cahill, Phil Jagielka, Leighton Baines, Steven Gerrard (c), Jordan Henderson, Raheem Sterling, Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck, Daniel Sturridge.
