Premier Showdown

January 21, 2010

It was a horribly low-scoring round last weekend, but at least it gave the Rest of the World something to cheer about. Surely our band of challengers will find some form soon?

Looking to make it back-to-back wins this weekend is Alan Buchwald who hails from Charlotte, NC in the United States.

Alan tells Soccernet: "I support Chelsea but I love to watch any Premier League game I can find on TV. I have been a soccer fan for many, many years.

"I remember in high school way back in 1974 when we could watch English games on PBS, Sunday @ 4pm that were three or four weeks old. I saw Man City in the 80s, plus Georgie Best and many world class players in the NASL playing for or against the Cosmos.

"I am now 51 years young. I played in college and still go out and play when I can. It is the best and most beautiful game. Regards, to all Soccer fans."

Let's see what Alan has predicted.

Soccernet's Premier League Editor, Dale Johnson, and ESPNsoccernet Press Pass pundit Tommy Smyth take up the test.

They, along with the challenger, cast their eyes over weekend's top flight fixtures in England and predict how they think each game will turn out.

Points are then awarded as follows:
• Three points for a correct result and scoreline
• One point for a correct result

After the weekend's scores are in and the result has been worked out, the winning pundit receives three points for their season's total. Should the challenger win, the total is added to the 'Rest of the World's' tally. In the case of a draw, the points are shared between those level on points.
