Premier Showdown - Sept 27/28

September 28, 2008

There was finally some cheer for Tommy Smyth at the weekend as, at the fifth time of asking, he finally got off the mark. It was a close run affair but Tommy sneaked home to take the spoils.

The Rest of the World will look to return to top form and extend their advantage this weekend, and that responsibility lies in Australia with John Hills, or Hillsy as he likes to be known.

Hillsy tells us: 'I left blighty in 2000 having run the Duke of Wellington pub in Twyford, Berkshire for 12 years. I'm 58 years old and an ex-Chelsea season ticket holder from the Osgood and co days. He is still, in my opinion, the best on his day.

'I am now an advertising consultant in Port Macqaurie, a fabulouse part of the world and get to watch more matches than I ever did whilst I was in the Duke.

'I think it has to be Chelsea for major honours this season, especially after their great start and look forward to seeing Liverpool come good.'

Let's see what lies in the predictions.

Soccernet's Premier League Editor, Dale Johnson, and ESPNsoccernet Press Pass pundit Tommy Smyth take up the test.

They, along with the challenger, cast their eyes over weekend's top flight fixtures in England and predict how they think each game will turn out.

Points are then awarded as follows:
• Three points for a correct result and scoreline
• One point for a correct result

After the weekend's scores are in and the result has been worked out, the winning pundit receives three points for their season's total. Should the challenger win, the total is added to the 'Rest of the World's' tally. In the case of a draw, the points are shared between those level on points.
