TEAM OF THE MONTH - MAY 2008

GOALKEEPERS: It's a close call between Chicago's Jon Busch who has revitalized his career with the Fire, and New England's Matt Reis. Busch edged Reis for the month by one point (13 to 12) and anchors a far stingier defense.

DEFENDERS: Leading the way at the back are a trio of Toronto FC players with Marco Velez on 23 points. His Toronto teammates Jim Brennan and Marvell Wynne also feaure high on the list.

As a key component of a Fire defense that has allowed only six goals, Gonzalo Segares is well worth adding to your squad, chipping in with 18 points.

MIDFIELDERS: No surprises when it comes to the midfield as David Beckham continues to blaze a trail. Even though he missed the last game of the month, the Galaxy midfielder led all others with 26 points. Houston's perennial MVP candidate, Dwayne De Rosario has also picked it up after a slow start. De Rosario had two goals in May where he doubled his points tally (23) from his first month's production.

Chicago's Justin Mapp is benefitting from all the attention being paid to Cuauhtemoc Blanco and chipped in with a strong month (20 points). Colorado's Christian Gomez remains consistent as the focal point of the Rapid offense. If you're looking for a sleeper, then New York's Danleigh Borman (19 points) is your man.

STRIKERS: The Galaxy's Edson Buddle emerged out of nowhere to record an astonishing 23 points with four goals in May. Don't look for it to continue though -- he's likely to be replaced in the lineup as soon as Carlos Ruiz is healthy. The biggest surprise is unheralded Revolution rookie Kheli Dube who scored in three straight games to register 22 points. Of the big names, Chicago's Blanco continues to be the most productive, providing both goals and assists (21 points).

TOTAL SQUAD POINTS: 290
