Premier Showdown - Jan 12/13

January 13, 2008

It was a fairly even festive programme for all of our competitiors - with Dale and the ROTW getting 1.5 points and Tommy 1. So not much change to the standings as we move firmly into the second half of the campaign.

Dale will probably be the happiest however, with his 18 point lead intact and four more rounds done and dusted.

So who will step up to the plate this weekend? We welcome Mark Beck.

He tells Soccernet Towers: 'My name is Mark, I'm a 26-year-old from Adelaide, South Australia and I follow Arsenal.

'I have followed English Football since I can remember and would like nothing more than seeing Arsenal take the title with a squad everybody had written off at the start of the season without Thierry Henry.

'My tipping has been down of late but, like Tommy, I aim to turn things round for the new year and help haul Dale in'!

Let's see what picks we have...

Each week one of our readers, or an ESPNSoccernet Press Pass viewer, has the chance to challenge our two experts.

Soccernet's Premier League Editor, Dale Johnson, and Press Pass pundit Tommy Smyth take up the test.

They, along with the challenger, cast their eyes over weekend's top flight fixtures in England and predict how they think each game will turn out.

Points are then awarded as follows:
• Three points for a correct result and scoreline
• One point for a correct result

After the weekend's scores are in and the result has been worked out, the winning pundit receives three points for their season's total. Should the challenger win, the total is added to the 'Rest of the World's' tally. In the case of a draw, the points are shared between those level on points.
