A versatile performer is a valuable commodity for every coach taking part in Euro 2012 and Ukraine boss Oleh Blokhin knows Mykhalyk is a man who can fill a variety of positions.
After starting his career as a striker, he has played in every position on the field for CSKA Kiev and Dynamo, where he was first used as a central midfielder and has more recently been employed in the defensive line. Ukraine boss Blokhin seems intent to play him in that more reserved defensive role this summer at well.
Composure on the ball is one of his finest assets and that was first seen in the Ukraine under-21 side that went all the way to the Final of the 2006 European Championships. Mykhalyk made such an impression in that tournament that a senior call-up soon followed later in the same year and he has been a regular member of the Ukraine set-up since. He stated in a recent interview that he loves to spend his spare time hunting and fishing.
