This veteran performer has been part of the Croatian international set-up for the last ten years and Euro 2012 will be his fifth major tournament at senior level.
After making his breakthrough with Croatian club NK Marsonia, spells with Hertha Berlin, NK Zagreb, Dinamo Zagreb and CSKA Moscow followed before he settled in Germany with Hamburg in 2007. Then, after two successful seasons in the Bundesliga, mighty Bayern Munich came calling and he made the move to the Germany’s biggest club.
While the glamour of being a Bayern Munich star has helped to enhance Olic’s status as one of the star names in this Croatia squad, his lack of playing time this season much be a concern to coach Slaven Bilic ahead of Euro 2012. A regular bench warmer at Bayern this season, he heads into his summer of tournament action fresh and raring to go, yet there may be a danger he is also a little shy of match practice. Croatia will hope it is the former.
After playing in five Euro 2012 qualifiers and scoring two goals, he is preparing to appear in his fifth major international tournament this summer.
